How to read the Key
I determined the 'climate groups' for Hoyas In Bloom on the basis of one group for every
5 degrees Latitude, (except for groups 1 and 2 which are based on 10 degrees Latitude)
Group 1 is the furthest north and therefore has the weakest sunlight, while Group 8 is the furthest south and has the strongest sunlight. I calculated the groups this way because strength of sunlight is the only thing the states included in each of the groups has in common. Other climate conditions such as rainfall and temperature all vary according to factors such as the altitude of the land and whether it is on the coast or inland.

The purpose of Hoyas in bloom, is really to provide everyone with a monthly reference of when they can expect their own hoyas to flower, based on the details given by others who are in the same group as themselves. I think it will be interesting to see, as the picture builds over the months.
