What would you choose if you were limited? I've had some unnamed AVs for years, and they have been declining rapidly. I finally figured out that the tree outside was shading the window too much, and also that the fluorescent bulbs were worn out. I have replaced the bulbs with the "sunshine" bulbs, and plan to use self-watering pots, but for now am limiting myself to nine violets. I have two left, and the promise of a noid leaf, so am trying to decide on six AVs to order, which is all I have time for right now.
Please offer suggestions on your favorites. I do prefer the standards for this area, but look forward to exploring minis and trailers in a couple of months.
Thanks so much,
Sharon

Allison, that looks like my thunder surprise. They are both good bloomers, I think. Really pretty, Sharon. If you like small symmetrical plants, I think little axel is really pretty. Plus I have a milky way trailer (from Allison). That is such a pretty plant, even without blooms.
I have got to find some of those egg cups. : )
My nicest (most mature) standard is Allegro mabel Joy. It is a neat plant.
You may not get a concensus. : ) It's like asking what kind of ice cream cone to get. : )

Thunder Surprise (9024) 03/23/2001 (S. Sanders) Double white star/blue eye, green edge. Medium green, plain. Semiminiature

I feel my Morning Thunder blooms a lot like it showing green even though FC says no green and I love the green in mine. But it's a large plant. Though I've taken tons of leaves off mine, picture looks small it's full in 4 " pot.
Morning Thunder (6745) 11/02/1987 (S. Sorano) Double white/blue edge. Medium green, plain, pointed. Large
They are both beautiful plants ! I don't think you could go worng with any you pick :))
All Av's are wonderful !
Thanks so much for all the suggestions!! I'd really like to be able to order some that I could propagate and other people would be interested in trading in a few months. Also, I know that the sticky has links to dealers, but are there some favorites?
Violet Gallery has nice plants and leaves.
I've been very happy with the plants I ordered from Rob's last spring and with the ones I got in fall from Violet Gallery... but I will comment that the plants from Rob's were much smaller, particularly the standards. However, VG doesn't ship until spring, and Rob's ships in winter but charges a bunch. If you check around the threads on the forum, I think there are places people have ordered from in winter -- Jack's Violets on eBay and maybe Bluebird?
