Anybody Going to the SE Flower Show?
I'm not sure!! I usually go, and I've displayed there...but I'm not wild about the whole "Italian" theme this year. Of course no offence to Italians. It's just not my bag...however, the speakers always attract me! I went almost every day last year because of the speakers. My hero Ethne Clarke was there and I got an autographed book. I want to hear Don Jacobs, but don't need a talk on Hellebores.
Dan Hinkley is coming ... and his topic doesn't really turn my crank, but I WANT to see him speak. Peter Loewer is later that day, with probably the most specific talk to the entire show, "italian gardens with native plants". Now, THAT turns me on, lol!
So if I do go, it will probably be on Wednesday. But I'm still not sure...

I haven't heard, but I did ask her. I think that her lack of response indicates that she's very busy. So, I leap (visualize this quite gracefully) to the conclusion that she will be there! (ribbit, ribbit)
Hey Carmen. I will be going. However, I know that I will be there on Wed to support my friend Joe Lamp'l www.joegardener.com at his talk..but I don't know about Sat yet.... I may have to hire a baysitter since hubby wants to do some things. When are you going?

Joe's your friend? That's how I got my tickets - won them on this show! I'll be there at 10:00 on Sat. If you can come, but can't make it at that time, we can exchange cell phone #'s and hook up when you can get there.

Wow thanks. I feel so loved. Well, I am for sure going on Wed and whether I go back on Friday or Saturday completely depends on my husband and whether I can get childcare while he does some guy things... He has earned the right. He's been so good about home projects and letting me go to the Symposium and watching the kids all day yesterday earned him some points too. Oh yea... and he has points for not yelling at me for buying more plants when he has already gently explained that there is no more to spend this week!!

Well about me, I learned that in Atlanta, and maybe even in GA, I am the one and only mom of 2 and 4 year olds as obsessed about gardening as I am, and that by the time my peers raise their children and start gardening, I will be resting (well maybe not 'resting',, but certainly not 'starting') on my garden laurels and enjoying the fruits of my labor!! I also thought of how beautiful it is that I am starting this garden just as my children are growing and we will have pictures and memories of them and the garden as they mature together..
But I'm sure you meant what did I learn from the presentations!! Right?? Oh gee Carmen.. I could write a book!! They all had picture presentations and that told lots as they spoke about their topic. Dr. A said we were welcome to come to his garden... so I'm going to email him and say what day??!! I know that the Trial gardens at UGA are having their sale on July 8th and I have that on my calendar.. they sell mainly sun lovers and that's what my garden mostly is right now.

I joined the GPPA yesterday, and the membership person called me today to tell me that we are living walking distance apart!! How cool is that!! I had attended meetings before, but I really want to become more active.

Hey BH, That looks nice! Is that a greenhouse or coldframe? Did you make it yourself or from a kit? Looks like you need to post this in a seperate thread.

Yeah, and tell us about the food. Last year's was great, and that's all I seem to think about lately. (Of course, it is lunch time. lol)
food... we can eat there? oh boy! its my rion 8x16 greenhouse, the roof actually ,the base and subfloor are mere feet away oh ya, im taking a van and a hand truck and my credit card... WOOO--- HOOOO!
