I totally forgot I had this one. It's in sorry shape (long neck, 2 equal sized crowns) but I now know it's there because of the dark red flowers in the back of my shelf. Plan on giving it a bit more care soon.
pow wow
That is a spectacular colour!!!
OH wow it sure is spectacular colour !!! Keyrings holding out Pow WOW woth suckers plant wow.
I grew a few and gave a large blooming plant away and thought nothing of it. Now everyone wants it.
LOL wow Keyring..you seem to have the only one around :) No one can seem to get ahold of this beauty at the moment :)
It is truly lovely!
LOL. There will be something to share come spring of course :-)
very pretty Keyring
I was joking because everyone has been begging for them from bluebird with no luck :) they are out :) So I am sure if you are willing to share...we will all be lining up outside your door :)
I bought my mom a pow wow from Bluebird's and she gave me some leaves. If they take, I can share. It will be a while, though.
last year, I put down two leaves of pow wow, but they both only made one plant. Perhaps this is why vendors run out.
Perhaps that is so :) I don't know
It reminds me somewhat of stop sign which I have leaves up of.
So I am curious to see how many I get from those leaves.
So far it seems to me I get less plantlets from the variegated varieties

I was thinking that too, Lorry... fewer plantlets from variegated leaves... most of my variegated varieties are producing 1 to 3 plantlet per leaf so far, while other pots are just crammed with leaves. But that may be due to the age of the leaf, also, as the greener leaves on my variegated ones tend to be outside/underneath, and the more green leaves are the ones I generally choose for rooting.
Keyring, 'Pow Wow' really is WOW!
Okay, I just found a listing for Pow Wow on eBay. It's item # 7741589630 and the bidding is due to end in 22 hours and 32 minutes. The minimum price is $4.95 and NO ONE has bid on it yet. So if anyone feels like it, go for it! :)
Marilee
That is true also critter. I never thought of that. Mine are also on the outside and usually the ones I choose.
I was told or read somewhere the greener leaves are better for rooting.
My Mango mongo only have green leaves ont he outside..most of the other leaves are snow white and pink..no way to root those..they would die
I agree on the variegateds. I took two almost solid green leaves off the pow wow so I was truly hoping for 2 plantlets+ each.....
I'll put a couple of leaves down as soon as I buy some potting mix. I'm completely out :-(
Erm...is Pow wow supposed to be semi double?
My mango mongo put up ears but don't know how many are there yet.
My Jalapeno put up like one a piece too....Sooo ..hmm interesting that everyone is having similar experiences.
Variegated leaves on the most part seem to take longer and give less babies. But well worh it. I think Pow WOW is a lot like Mac's Scarlet O'hara too.
I don't know about semi-double.... Mine always blooms the same way, and I got it as a leaf from someone. I've seen it flowered in warm and cool conditions and the flower color is always this deep velvety red too.....
I have scarlet ohara too from DP greenhouse.
I have lost a lot of the plants I got from them though so hoping she will make it.
Oh and I looked on bluebird..and it does say semi but the one on ebay looks different then the one you posted.
Hmm may just be the shot I guess :)
Yeah I'm surprised they did not say Single-semidouble for Pow Wow as it seems like that's how it always blooms.
The picture on ebay looks much more double....which is interesting.
You should go check it out Allison

Yes I had bought the plant way back I think from Bufford. I have leaves away and gave the blooming plant away. The flowers were always Single -semidouble.

I have been lusting over Pow Wow since I first saw it and have been beat out on Ebay and substituted when I ordered. If you put down a leaf for me I will give you all of my children, my mother and my husband...LOL. I would really appreciate it and would be willing to trade anything I have-plants that is, and I will put a good word in for you w/ Santa and AV fairy.
Oh how nice. Who doesn't like red, eh? I have had that on my wantlist for a while! Control, I say, control...
