I am hoping someone out there has some varieties of hyssop to trade. Unfortunately, I haven't lived here very long and I only have fern-leaf tansy coming out right now. Any info appreciated.
CLOSED: Looking for Hyssop
is this hyssop officinalis or anise hyssop which is agastache foeniculum?
I am looking for both. Thanks
I have some Anise Hyssop that I can trade in the spring when it starts comming out. I don't want to try and divide it right now. Remind me in the spring. I saw some great Hyssop in the White Flower Farm catalogue. Check these out http://www.whiteflowerfarm.com/cgi-local/search.pl?text=agastache
wouldn't you know they are 9 bucks each!

It is just unbelievable to me how high everything is right now; seeds, plants, beef lol. I'm really glad to know about DG's place here. Thanks for the offer Robin, I am sure I can trade something. I have quite a few Iris, a few Calla's, some fern-leaf tansy and some kind of ornamental grass. If I get all of these seeds planted that I have traded for here I'll have a lot more! I'll make a note to dmail you in the spring.
Thanks,
George
hyssop officinalis is easy from seed. Check the walmart herb seed things. It is also uber hardy. I tossed some plants on the ground before winter in ct zone 5(not planted on the ground, thought it had gotten to cold and had gotten most of them transplanted, and had given up on the rest as a goner) well march came the popped up with no problem. So I with a surprised face, planted them.
Not sure how easy anise hyssop is from seed.
Thats nice to know Moon. I have gotten a lot of herbs started here, and I don't know why I haven't already gotten that one in, just overlooked it I guess. Thanks for the info.
I can second that comment about growing hyssop from seed. I direct seeded in the spring (officianalis) almost 10 years ago, and still have the same clump.
I have not grown the anise hyssop as I am not fond of the scent, but I have removed it from a friend's garden.....give it space and then some...it can be invasive. Would be great for filling in an area though---tall and attractive. Nice for summer teas.
Thanks for the info. I have been very fortunate to have been given a cutting, so I am all set now. Thanks
