Staghorn Fern
Platycerium superbum
A baby I have had about 8 months!! Winter, Jan, 06
Staghorn Fern (Platycerium superbum)
Fascinating! I love these plants, I'm always drawn to them at the nursery, but I don't have the conditions for them at home. You're so lucky to be able to grow them outdoors!
I just can't wait for this one to mature. I was going to move it under my overhang of my house but so far haven't. I am worried about all the rain we get in winter.
Stunning! I have a 5 month old. My first Superbum to add to my collection of other species. Can't wait till it looks like yours.
I would love to grow many more different cultivars. Which other ones do you grow? This one is so easy here.
Kell,How did it fare in 2007 and this winters freeze? I ordered one..
thanks,
Stan
All of mine are on my back deck which is covered in a wide wooden lathe with vines on top, so protected. None of my plants on it have ever gotten any damage at all. I have a clumps of staghorns that I have had for 30 years now that is about 10 feet long and 5 feet wide on the deck and it totally surrounds a support post. They thrive.
They are beautiful plants!
Any update photos?
