Tell them that it is not here yet.
Here's an image of my Bulbine out front, facing due East.
Is it Summer yet ?
cool plant.
I noticed the weeds sure think it is summer....they are growing like, well weeds!
wow, I've never seen an aloe bloom before. also, I gave my bulbine a haircut, and that thing is not looking good. It's green, but I don't think it was grown since the haircut.
Here in Texas too I sure hope it's not summer yet!!!! I'm so afraid summer will be coming very early this year. I don't look forward to 80 and 90-100 degree weather. Sure puts a damper on my gardening.

My problem has been that the plants don't realize that there might, possibly be another low temp time in February coming and they are starting to go crazy. Yes, I'm holding back on the compost and fertilizer till I'm SURE.
Crazy kids...........just like my daughter.
Kipper, I thought you were pulling one with that photo of the Aloe. It looked like a red hot poker was behind it. I like vossner, have never seen one in bloom before. I looked it up on the PF even! Of course I saw my first mother-in-laws tongue bloom last year too. Thanks for the second look!
In Brownsville today, in the old part of town near Southmost Rd, I saw the most beautiful aloes blooming. They had lots of orange flowers, like red hot pokers. The street was too busy for me to stop suddenly and I couldn't find my way back to where the house was(I get lost easily in the old part of town, lol). The leaves on the aloes were huge and thick.
Hi Kip!! My bulbine is blooming away, too. And lavender, and cape honeysuckle, and crossvine, and abutilon. My trailing lantana has a few flowers, several mexican milkweeds are about to bloom, and some of the poppies, delphiniums, and sweet peas are blooming (oy! the sweet peas!!) The roses are beginning to bud again, and the dwarf pomagranate is really loading up on buds.
I'm going to be doing a lot of covering up if/when we get that Feb freeze we usually get!
The milkweed that I got at the CTRU is starting to bloom, too. :-)
maggiemoo, I know......but do we that many bedspreads and other coverings ?? ;o>
Kip, maybe that's the reason for all the January white sales, lol!
Marylyn, are those your first MM's? I love them! I have a very nice stand of them at one end of my rose bed, and I have them in a couple of other spots. You'll never see another aphid on your roses again, as they love the MM's so much more.
By the way, I noticed the other day that widflowers are starting to bloom in the medians in The Woodlands, and I've seen lots of Indian Blanket around the Tomball area.
Hope this won't ruin the usual wildflower season.
My very first MMs, and I'm very excited!! I wanted to get some this year anyway, so getting it for free was a huge bonus. :-) I have just a few pockets of bright sunshine in the front yard, so I planted that in one of them. I can't wait to show my daughters the butterfly cocoons and watch them emerge... I'm glad to hear about the aphids, too!! :-) Too bad the roses are on the other side of the garden in the other bright spots. LOL
The Houston azalea trail organizers are in a dither, or so it says in the Houston paper. The azaleas are starting to bloom, and the annual azalea trail tour doesn't begin until the first week of March. They are putting ICE in the azalea beds to delay blooming. ( :

Jackie, I heard that, too, that the azalea people are actually "icing down" the azleas. I wondered how they were doing that.
I think they otta let the poor things bloom when they feel like it!! I have one flower on a formosa, not a chance it's gonna get iced! ( :
