Plumerias in Need

San Francisco Coast , CA(Zone 10b)

I found two plumies at a local nursery... I don't think anyone there even knew what they were! I scooped them up a couple months ago, and have had them outdoors. (My other Plumeria lives inside) They look quite sad. What can I do for them?

Hi ABarker! They look pretty good to me! They have lost their leaves and are probably dormant right now. If you are in Zone 10a, then you can leave them outside all year. Just be on the lookout for temps lower than 40 because they will be damaged if you should get an unexpected unusual freeze. That is what I do. It has gotten down to 35 here in the very early hours before the sun comes up once or twice, but so far, I'm not seeing any damage. Your plumies should be waking up here pretty soon as the temperatures become warmer and as the day length increases, and then you will see new leaves come from the tips of your plumies. Nice score, by the way!

ABarker, that is exactly what mine look like right now. Isn't it disconcernting that something so sad looking can quickly turn into the most divine tree? ahhhhhh!

I have some that look just like that and a big old ball of blooms is forming at the top of one of them. They are fine.
