First bloom for this Vireya

Key West, FL(Zone 11)

This hibred,
Vireya mcgregori x laetum + saxifrigodes is my latest vireya bloom on a very slow growing low spreading vireya, the blooms started off white and turned pale pink as they opened.
Not scented but flowers lasted about two weeks from opening .

The one in the , middle is a bit unusuall as it was split down the middle 10 petals 5 on each side instead of just 5 like the others. Ive been told that this can happen on hibrids but they tend to grow out of it. Lots of new buds on all of my vireyas so pleanty to watch and brighten up the winter and spring.

I have found that the best place to learn about and purchase vireya is at Pacific Island Nursery in Hawaii. seems like a long way off but they grow best in tropical climate, and they have fast inexpensive shipping rates. al Tthere are many collectors around the country who have them indoors and in green houses. And they do pretty well,

If you visit www.pacificislandnursery you can ack Sherla to send you one that is mature enough to bloom othewise it can be a bit of a wait.

Good luck
