Hi there, just want to say hi to all Canadians out there. I'm a novice in plants so I'll be browsing here a lot. :)
I have just developed a fascination for epiphyllums - so my goal for this year is to hopefully get some of them to bloom this summer.
Joe
A newbie
Welcome!
Welcome Joe from another orchid cactus fan (and anything else tropical now;)
Pam in downright balmy Saskatchewan.
Another welcome, Joe. What epis do you have? colours etc? These girls that are crazy about tropicals can probably answer some of your questions you posted in the other forum. http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/571314/
in case they don't see it there.
Hope you enjoy your time spent here.
Brenda
Thanks for the heads up echoes.........I posted one supplier in the other thread. ;)
Thanks everyone.
I have a Queen of the Night (white) for at least two years. Started from a cutting - I'm hoping this is the one that will bloom this year. I bought a Deutsche Kaiserin (pink) cutting last year. Also am starting dragon fruit seeds which just sprouted last night.
I also started a plumeria from seed last year and it has grown quite a bit over the year.
Aside from these plants, I also have a peace lily.
I'm not going to list all those plants that didn't survive last year. :)
Welcome Joe!!
Ok, these dragon fruits you're talking about.....are they edible and a brilliant pink fruit? I'm just wondering if they're the same thing that I bought (and ate) from the grocery store, lol. I've never come across a more pretty fruit in my life.

Yup, dragon fruits are edible and red in colour, although some have yellow skin. Haven't seen ones with yellow skin yet though in the grocery store.
Here's a picture of dragon fruits. http://store.brentwoodtradinggroup.com/dragonfruit.html?OVRAW=Dragon%20Fruits&OVKEY=dragon%20fruit&OVMTC=standard
Yes!! That's the one. I hope you can keep us updated with how you do growing this plant. Very delicious, and the seeds are reminiscent of kiwi to me.
