franj,
Good show on getting a pict of the bloom, except one thing....
It looks like you have pictured here is Cylindropuntia fulgida var. fulgida rather than C. bigelovii, for the following reasons:

>Both species are called 'Jumping Cholla'
>Teddy Bear Cholla has denser spines than your photo.
>The spines & tubercles look more like these in this pict of C. fulgida v. fulgida
http://davesgarden.com/pf/showimage/45952/
>Teddy bear cholla is reported to only reach 6 feet max height, while C. fulgida v. fulgida reaches 10 feet high.
>C. fulgida v. fulgida has pink to magenta flowers like your photo.

Would it be possible for you to show a photo of the entire cactus?

Hello Xenomorf,
You may be right at that. Mine is about 8 feet tall now. It was a cutting taken in the wild from what I thought was a bigelovii. The wild specimen had a lot denser spination. Here's a pic.
Thanks,
Franj

Would you like to have your photo moved to the correct entry page?

Why yes! I would. To tell you the truth I forgot all about it.
