Difference between a diary and a journal

I'm trying to find the best way to keep track of my garden planning - what I want, who has it, what the price is. Is it better to use the diary or the journal.

I think I just wasted $50.00 on Compleat Botanica - Dave's Garden is much more helpful.

I would say diary. I haven't come across anyone who gets the journal. The diary is very versatile. There is a garden tour forum that people use it for also. The journal I think is more specific to plants?
