please help with pics from First Class

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

I'm not generally dense when it comes to using software, but I must just be missing something here.

I've figured out about using "copy to clipboard" and then "paste" to get descriptions out of First Class... But I've tried a couple of things and have failed to figure out how to get the photos to another file so I can attach them to DG posts etc!

Please help!

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Now I don't know how to do any of that I just type it out all the time .You mean there is an easier way ?

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

oh photos ok i get it !sorry go up to edit in fc and save pictures to your picture folder ~!

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

OK... I'll see if I've got it now...

Oh, and you definitely don't have to retype the description info. When you look at the description of an AV, there is a "button" to the right of the photo that says "copy to clipboard." If you click on that, there is a temporary copy (on your "clipboard) that you can then paste wherever you want it.... For example, after you "copy to clipboard" you can go to your DG post, click "paste" (control + V is the shortcut) and the text of the description will appear.

Ta-dah! Thank you Allision... how did I miss seeing that in the "edit" menu??

I think I'll make a "temp" folder for transferring photos I want to post and just empty it out every so often... otherwise, I'll end up with 100's of pictures from FC taking up space in another folder also.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Ok good I'll have to try that copy thing I always type it out. lol

Hey you FC owners, can someone do a search on 'Holly' leaves, dark green color with some red reverse?
pretty please.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Holly I came up with 70 plus and dark green red back came up with one thousand plus but I have not learned how to save the list like Jill does. Help please Jill

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Allegro Harvest Moonglow has dark green serrated /red back ! Do you still have it ?

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

I guess I should have been more clear, the leaf is dark green, red back, holly. So of the 70, that's what I am looking for.
BIG HUG >>SQUEEZE

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

Yup! and two rooted leaves down too!!!

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Blueberry Mint has ruffeld red back I have for you. Blackberry Jam has variegated dark green and white red back I have.
Jill I see where it says cope to clip board I mouse on it but how the hek do I fine my clip board ?

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Oh my Laurie big order..dark green holly , red back only four came up . lol and only one I heard of .
One is an Allegro but I can't see how to spell and I can't find my clip board.

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

I'm still trying to identify that one with a tag that said Malakai. I spoke with DP (of bargain violet fame) and He though it might be Molokai. sounded reasonable since there are others named after Hawaiian islands, but it definitely NOT Molokai.

So I'm still stumped.

See that right leaf -center in the photo above?. you should really see the 'holly' shape. Most are like that. Here's the undersides.

Here's the name tag it came with.

Maybe it was named not registered. He sent me a plant named Little Teddy. It had so many pretty flowers but the foliage and roots were horrid. I was able to save a tiny crown ! It seems that it will live ! I am hoping so the flowers were so pretty but I can' find
anything about an AV Little Teddy.
I wonder if your plant was Swedish ?

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Laurie Ok my 2 cents lol I don't feel they are Holly leaves.
I think they are just curling back.
I also feel it could be Optimara Manitoba ( SP maybe I can't see FC good)

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

well, it's nice either way. What's left of it. It's one of the casualties, over water, systemic, what ever I did to it. I have several leaves down, rooted too. so at least I have 'insurance'

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

Does your FC have photos of the ones with holly leaves that you can post so I can see what they look like?

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Oh Lovely Lace Holly dark green red back. Be a nice plant to have ! But can't see foliage good

There are other plants with Holly foliage but only 4 with pictures but none show foliage

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Gosh you know only 74 plants in FC with Holly leaf and only 4 with oictures . Holly foliage must be pretty rare ?

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Sorry, just now getting back online...

Allision, when you click "copy to clipboard" the info goes to your virtual clipboard... you don't need to find it, it's just there waiting to be pasted whereever you want it. It's like when you click "control - C" (eg, hold down both the "control" key and the "C" key) to copy highlighted text, that puts it onto your "clipboard" and then you click "control - V" to paste the text.

I'll go to FC now.... brb...

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Oh Jill I'm so lost. I did what you said but where is it pasting it to. I press everything you say but I don't know nothing is helping ?

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

I searched FC for "holly red back" foliage and got these possibilities, assuming it's a registered one:

Allegro Pirouette (9164) 01/27/2003 (J. Stromborg) Single dark magenta sticktite frilled pansy/variable white edge. Dark green, round, holly/red back. Standard

Garfield (6308) 06/27/1986 (S. Lang) Single orchid-pink/lilac overlay, fuchsia ray, green frilled edge. Dark green, ruffled, holly/red back. Standard

Marie's Pomo Chief (7512) 03/11/1991 (M. Beeman) Double purple/green frilled edge. Variegated dark green, rose and some cream, hairy, holly/red back. Large

Pilgrim Yule (1543) 08/26/1965 (E. Nelson/M. Lanigan) Double red frilled. Dark green, holly/red back. Large

The 'Lovely Lace' that Allison posted a photo above from FC does not have red backed foliage.

Here's the FC photo of 'Allegro Pirouette' (see, I can do this now!)

Allison, I'll try again... forgive me if this is overly detailed...

Go to the First Class program and go to the entry for 'Lovely Lace'.

Put the cursor (mouse pointer) on the "copy to clipboard button" (on the right side of the window next to the photo of 'Lovely Lace') and click the mouse. You'll hear the friendly FC beep. The description information has been placed on your clipboard (eg, temporary storage that can hold one thing at a time).

Now come back here. Move the cursor to the box where you're typing your reply.

Now, either: right click with your mouse and choose "paste" from the menu that appears

or: press the "control" key (look on the lower left corner of your keyboard for a key labeled "Ctrl") and hold it down while you press the "V" key to paste the description into your post.

I'll check back in a moment to see if it worked for you! :-)

Oh my goodness Jill Thank you so every much. I've been typing people list out to them after mailing them boxes thats why it takes me so long. I can't thank you enough :))

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

TA - DAH!

I knew you could do it!

Just like I knew that with a little help I could figure out how to get photos out of there! Thanks!!

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

I absolutely LOVE this group - we are all so helpful! Thanks Critter! I felt Ali's 'Ah Ha' moment all the way here!! LOL!

I'll do a search for Holly leaves (using the sticky of course!) They sure look like NOTHIN' else I've seen. In 'real life' they really do resemble a holly plant. That's what lead me to believe it had 'holly leaves' once I went lookin'

Wish I coudl take a better photo, but sadly there's just a crown left and leaves down.

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

Okee dokee, here's what I found -the description
Holly: Heavily crested leaves with the leaf edges curled forward or bent back with exaggerated wavy edges resembling holly in form.

and here is the photo sample, aside from the colors being the same, the edges have a distinct curl that makes it look like the christmas holly.

(Not my photos' these photos are from the AVS site)

of all the leaves on that photo, mine looked the most like the one with the pink arrow to it.
here's the close up.

I just hope I don't kill it!

Take one of leaves off and take picture both sides

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

That's a really odd leaf form. If I got an AV with leaves like that, my first thought would be to diagnose its affliction, LOL. It looks cool, but the curled edges would freak me out until I figured out it was a holly type leaf!

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Jill i did not want to say that but bargain AV's
Leaves Curl Down: Possible Causes

Below is the complete list of possible causes for this symptom.

Broad Mites
Privet Mites
Spider Mites
Sunlight - Too Much
Temperature - Too Cold
Water - Too Cold
???????
Go to Dr. Optimara

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Allison, did you see her photos above? I thought the plant looked pretty healthy, but all the leaves were definitely curled back all the way around like the holly foliage.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Yes I am not sure . Yes I say then sometimes not sure.
