Just wanted to stop in and introduce myself. My name is Michelle and I have been gardening for about 10 years. 3 full years at my current property. I use mainly perennials, some shrubs and a few annuals dotted in for color. The past 3 winters I have enjoyed Wintersowing. I have had huge success. It is great that I have been able to grow so many wonderful plants from seed. Can't wait to get to know other garden lovers from across the country.

Welcome Michelle! How has your winter sowing worked for you? --Ginny
Welcome from Montreal, Qc
Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!
Ginny,
WS has been a huge success for me. I never believed in a million years that I could start my plants from seed. But when I learned about ws I thought why not I'll try it. I started with about 18 different types of seeds and I could not believe my results the first year.
Last winter I ws almost everything that I could get my hands on.
I did tons of Poppies( so many varieties), Columbines, Agastache, Joe Pye Weed, Liatris, Gaillardia, Iberis, Dianthus(lots), Shasta Daisy, Coneflowers, Coreopsis, Heliopsis, Penstemon, Delphiniums, Aubrieta, Malva, Russian Sage, Salvia, Baptista, Heuchera, Baby Breath, Balloon Flower, Aster, Jacob's Ladder and lots of varieties of Rudbeckia. These are just a few perennials and I also did tons of Annuals. There are so many more varieties available in seed. As well I did lots of trading with different gardening folks.
My success rate was about 96%. I could not believe all the plants I had grown. I have all my containers ready to go this year now I just have to pick the seeds that I am going to do. I sure am glad that I have lots of gardening space to fill up. It definitely is less expensive and it passes the winter so fast that you cannot believe that it is May and there are still tons of seeds you want to try. But alas there is always next winter!lol

Welcome Michelle! Ü
Hello and Welcome Michelle!
With your 96% success rate, it sure sounds like you're having alot luck (and fun) with WSing. I've already got several containers started and I figure I'll do a few more in a few days. I too have lots of spaces to fill but only because I bought the house last year and there wasn't any garden to speak of.
Just in case you haven't found this yet, here is the link to the new winter sowing forum:

Welcome to Dave's Garden and the Canadian Gardening Forum, Articfire. From, Riverview NB
Thanks again for all the wonderful welcomes to this great forum! So glad I joined.
Erynne,
I have located the ws forum and have been browsing all the threads.

Hello fellow "Islander".
I'm new here myself and just finding my way around. Looks like a great place to talk gardening. At least I know now that I'm not the only one who'll be suffering through the loooooooooong muddy spring here. :-)
So glad that I located another "Islander". It certainly helps when there is someone in your backyard to compare notes with during the season. Hasn't our winter been wonderful unless of course you want to snowmobile or ski! The only thing that makes me nervous is what will April, May and June be like. I would rather get winter when we are meant to get it and then have a glorious spring. But I could do without the mud!

Hi Michelle,
Welcome to DG and thanks for introducing yourself. I look forward to hearing more from you in the future.
Hi also to Booswalia. I don't think I've met you before.

Hello Canadians!
I saw PEI and I could not resist coming out of lurking. We love Canada and this year we are going back to PEI for two weeks this summer. We are renting a house north of Kensington - Cousin's Shore. I would love to meet more DG gardeners! Last year we met DarrellR in New Brunswick - what a good gardener and salesman he is!
Stay Warm up there!!

Hello to Ann, Kim and Sandy
I cannot believe how awesome this forum has been so far. It is so great to receive such a warm welcome.
Kim,
It is always great to meet other gardeners. Keep me posted on your vacations plans to PEI.
Sandy,
A winter blizzard is forcasted for tonite and tomorrow for most of PEI. We have been so lucky in one sense as we have had a super mild winter with very little snow. But I have a feeling things are about to change.
Hi Michelle, welcome to Dave's Garden. Hope you enjoy it here.
Brenda
