Electric Cowboy baby has been blooming on my windowsill a good month or so :)) I am going to ship soon to Jill a big box of goodies :))
Critter AKA Jill's Electric Cowboy in bloom
OMG, that is just a STUNNING little plant!! I can't believe it will be mine!
I promise I'm trying hard to have plenty of plantlets for your box this spring, Allison!
WOW! Thank you!!
..... I'm trying to figure out why so many of your pics are coming out blurry... there are background elements in focus, so I'm thinking you may just be a little too close for the camera to focus right. How close to the plant are you putting the camera? Are you using the telephoto lens to zoom in on your shot?
You're off to such a great start with your new camera! I hope you don't think I'm picking on your photos... I love to see your plants, regardless!
I love your pics! I sure didn't mean to make Baby Colors cry!!
The colors are coming through great, but the blooms are a little out of focus. It's not my computer, because some parts of your picture (designs on the placemat or on the pot behind the one you're photographing) are very sharply in focus.
I'm seeing all blur on your violets and very clear backgrounds. I can't even tell the shape of the leaves very well. Sorry.
Diane
Well will blame it one my hands, fingers and arms have limited
movement and strength.lol i can't even turn key door
or sqeeze tooth paste ...i had to stop driving when i
could no longer turn the key or hold breaks down.
Sorry 1gardengram it's my first day taking pictures
the camera is real heavy and my fingers don't have
muscles and I'm doing the best I can. It's for fun,,
Monday my Hospice vol. comes she is a photographer
if i feel up to she can help me !! Last week i could not
hold my eyes open or talk i'll try
allison...you're doing great with the first try of the camera...you'll get use to it...and your hospic vol can help you get use to it...you should have seen me when i first started..lol....believe me...you're much better than i was..
I'm so sorry to hear about that Allison. I only made the comment because you said that the pictures were clear on your end. Someone above suggested you might be too close to your subject and I think that sounds right, as your backgrounds are clear.
I hope you can continue to take pictures and send them in. Photography is a fun hobby and a good way to take your mind off things. Can you set the camera down and then move the plants to where it is instead of trying to hold it? You seem to have really lovely plants, so don't give up.
Wow Jill are you drooling ? You don't have to cause I'm doing it for you here in AL.LOL
Oh, yes! Now that Allision has started posting pics, I have to keep a towel right next to the computer, LOL!
Allison, please don't feel discouraged! You're not jiggling the camera or anything like that, the camera is just having a hard time focusing on the plant... because the background is sharp, I know it's the camera, not you! It's either a focal length thing or an auto-focus issue, but either way taking a photo from further away (or not zooming in, if you're doing that) should take care of it.
I often set my camera on something when I'm taking a picture of my plants, especially when I'm trying not to use the flash. If the natural light is not very bright, the camera needs to hold its shutter open for a longer time, and if I hold the camera in my hand I am likely to jiggle it. When I'm taking a picture from about a foot away of a plant on a counter or table, I find that putting a book down on the table and placing my camera on the book sets the shot up about right.
You know we love seeing pics of your plants, but please remember that we wanted to give you a camera so you'd have fun with it! There's no expectation that you will immediately post thousands of perfect pictures, LOL! Just enjoy it. I'm with Bob -- you're doing great already, and you'll get more used to it as you go along.
Wowwowowow electric cowboy and baby colors are GORGEOUS!
Looks like you are having fun with the camera :)
I have a hard time with blur when taking bloom photos too..so there is a definite learning curve!
Critter maybe the photos are a bit blurry because Ali drools on her own lovely plants, how could she not, just look at the magic touch she has. Should we have sent Ali a bib, and distributed bibs to all the av members so we can view Ali's shots without drenching our keyboards? Just joking Ali, we love seeing your babies, keep em coming! Blurry or not.
I have to do what critter says too. Another trick I learned from my daughter (the photography student) is to hold your breath slightly as you push the button. It steadys you just slightly.
Jill, you better get a bib for when EC comes to live with you!!
Allison, you're doing fine with that camera! We've had a digicam for about 5 years and I still can't take a good picture of a bloom in less than several, several tries. My hubby got a new one for Christmas that has a macro setting on it. It takes fabulous closeups when I do it right. Problem is, I don't know what is right or wrong, so it's completely hit or miss on whether they turn out well.
My method of practicing is to take several shots in a row. I start really close to the bloom, or zoomed in really close, and take a picture. Then back up 6 inches and take another. Back another 6 inches, etc. That way when I look at them on the computer, if the third pic is the best, I know I need to be about a foot away for the pics, if the fourth is the best then 18 inches is right. Does that make sense? It's a bit of work to do that, but once you figure out the distance that produces the best picture, it's easy to just get to that distance and snap it. I hope that helps you. :o)
No matter whether they're blurry or clear, I still love seeing your pictures!
I like my pictures :)) I think their great ! Iot a photographer so they'll never be perfect. And when the phtographer was here taking pictures for the calender and magazine he took 300 pictures. I got the CD and maybe 6 were good. lol I was hoping for good
flower/plant pictures he was taking but none of them were any good. Go figure his fancjy equipment and
and knowledge and he does this for a living.
I love my pretty pictures ! You can still tell the flowers are pretty :))
I love your pictures and I know they're great! I hope you didn't think I was saying they weren't. Part of the fun of taking pictures is taking THE picture YOU want to take. You are enjoying taking them and we are enjoying seeing them, so that makes them all wonderful!
Thank you Amy I feel the same way :))
