Ali, you're doing great! Just keep practicing!
I think Critter is correct in that you likely just need to hold the camera back a bit. Did you install the software that came with the camera. FinePix is it?

You should be able to crop and adjust size in that program.

Ive had my camera for two years and I'm just now really getting the hang of it! You're doing just fine!!!

Yes, cropping a photo has become my favorite way of "taking" a closeup picture and getting it in focus! If you leave the photo size set to 5 megapixels, each picture will have enough digital information in it that you'll be able to select and "blow up" even a very small area of your photo and still end up with a clear picture for posting.

It's just hard to get a good focus lock on the subject you want (rather than what the camera thinks you are trying to do, LOL) when you are really close. I like to take a picture from a couple of feet away and then crop it down to get a closeup shot.

(I was saving that hint for after you said that you'd installed your photo software, but since Begonia brought it up.... :-)

Critter, er uh Jill, I sent Ali a mini tutorial using the following photos that I took today for example
here's the photo, shot at 5MP, then I take it to photo shop and scale both the image size and file size to 'save for the web' (low 72 dpi resolution)

Here's the same photo with just the part I want, the rest is cropped out.

I think with some coaching from all of us, it will be a snap (no pun intended).

OK, off to go play Yatzee with DH and Son. ... I'll chat with all of ya manana!

Denver, CO

Golly, folks; she's picked right up on this camera business! It took me longer to figure mine out!

You have to install software and register before being able to download pictures from your camera. I did not instal the free Wal-mart program as I already have Kodak picture program for cropping and all that good stuff. I'm always cropping something even with throw away camera I always got them on CD ( no pictures)
Then I'd download them and crop and get prints of ust the ones I wanted and share them too !
Oh yes Kenton I took ove a hundred pictures today . lol
I love my Wasp plants always blooming ...

What a sweet little plant! I ordered my first wasp plant from VG for spring pickup... 'Merlot Trail'... and I'm very excited about it!

Allison,

I think you are doing a great job. Just keep up the good work and you will be out-doing the rest of us if we aren't careful. I love the last photo that you posted. It looks really neat.

No I did not a good friend In Canada did. If it's the green and off white her Mom did and it's a lap one so not to get caught in my wheel chair. And if it's the blue one its a shawl and sparkly and soft and so pretty ! I can't remember which one was in the picture. lol
