Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Wow, Michael, you lucky person you! That's wonderful! I hope you and Paula will tell us all about it when you get back. You might email Paul directly in case she doesn't see your plea for help here. I'm sure she's got those figures down and can help you figure out modes of transportation. Maybe someone going to the convention also can give you a lift from the airport. Also, email Kathee (Twisted Parrot) because she can probably help you out also.

Houston, TX

Hi Michael!
That is so cool that you can come! There is Galveston limosine service from either airport that is pretty cheap, roundtrip is $65.00 from Hobby or $75.00 from Bush. Once you are on the island and are staying at Moody Gardens, transportation on the island is free. Moody has shuttles for its guests all over the island. So you do not need to rent a car. Most meals are paid for in the cost of the conference. (no breakfasts...) You will need plumie money, though, since you will want to buy some new plants! Unvelievable cool plumerias will be up for sale at the PSA sale on Saturday. So arrive Friday night so you can get to the sale early. Registrants get early admittance into the sale. You will want first dibs on some of these plants! If you have any other questions, you can call me. You know my phone ;-)

Paula, a lot of reading but couldn't find what I wanted.
1. do you have to be member of plumie soc to attend conf?
2. registration cost for whole conf. or for specific events
3. can you go to sale even if you don't attend conf?

thanks. I see you are till having the sale in Ft Bend Co in June. yipee. but it would be nice to make a mini vacation of it and go to conference.

Houston, TX

Hi
You do not need to be a member to attend the conference. The website has the registration form with prices. To attend the entire conference, it costs $250.00, which includes the lectures, work shops, yard tours with bus transportation , the Welcoming Reception, Barbeque Lunch at the Yard Tour, The Luau, dinner and auction. If you cannot attend the entire conference, you can purchase ala carte events. They range between 30.00-60.00.
Here is the link to sign up for the conference: http://forms.theplumeriasociety.org/conference.htm
You can attend the sale in Fort Bend (June instead of July this year) and of course you can attend the sale which is the first day of the conference July 8th. But if you are not attending the conference, you are allowed in one hour after all the conference attendees are allowed inside. In other words, they get first dibs on all the great plants. There will be plenty left, but you may not get the one you are hankering for...LOL
I hope you come to my table (#16) and I will see you at the Fort Bend Sale for sure, and hopefully at the conference and sale in Clear Lake!
Paula

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

thanks for the info paula. I will for sure go to the Ft bend sale and will for sure stop by your table.

Great we will see you there!
BTW, our registration for the conference is still open until we sell out. We even got an extension on our hotel rooms. We had to return some, but were able to hold onto a few more in case folk's plans change. Seriously think about coming to the conference, too!
Paula

DH & I had a wonderful time at the welcoming reception on Saturday. Met Dutchlady, GordonHawk, Carol & Luc from Florida Colors and many other charming plumeria folk. Janell was also there and if you click on the flicker tab you will see some wonderful pics of people at the reception as well as at the sale. http://www.plumerias.com

Clare, your ears must have been burning....

I overslept and skipped the sale, but I woke up to this.....

Sitting out in the balcony, sipping coffee and looking into the Gulf of Mexico. It was great to get away for the weekend. Since the 4th of July weekend was rainy in this area, the City of Galveston postponed the fireworks display. They took place last night and they were spectacular! A warm summer night with a lovely breeze and almost 1 hour of multi-colored lights adorning the sky.

The best part is that after DH heard the kind of money these folk spend on plumies, he has decided I am a very conservative buyer and is gonna "up" my plumie budget. (evil grin...my ploy worked)

LOL, Nery! Thanks for the update. I'm going to look at every one of those pics! That is so cool that Janel put them up on the site. I'm so glad that you got to meet everyone. Janel is such a great person. You, me, and her would have the best time ever together. You guys are two of my favorite plumie people. LOL at my ears burning. Those are great pictures that you posted. I think I would just be content to stare out at the water all day with a cup of coffee too. And you got a fireworks show too? Fantastic! They couldn't have timed that better! Congratulations on the new plumie budget. Tee hee!

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Nery, I just went through those photos, but I didn't see any of you! Are you in there? Paula is a cutie and looks remarkable relaxed! She did a fantastic job pulling that all together. Janel is sooo beautiful! What a cutie pie. Those pictures are great!

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

Clare I believe she took the pics before I arrived, also some were of the sale. I didn't see much picture taking at the reception.

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Thanks, Nery:-)
