I have (AMOUNG OTHER THINGS - CHECK MY TRADE LIST) 3 trades of 25 seeds each of the purple passion flower vine (maypop) (see picture). These passion vines are very fragrant and are the host plants for a couple of different butterflies. They bloom all summer long.
I am desperately seeking seeds for the TRUE Roselle Hibiscus. I would like the green leaved one, but would also trade for a red leaved one. These are the hibiscus that get fruits on them that you can make jam/jellies out of. Sometimes called 'Florida Cranberry'. Not to be confused the the FALSE ROSELLE, which don't get the fruits. I'd like to trade for AT LEAST 20 seeds of the hibiscus per 25 seeds of the passion vine.
If you don't want the passion vine seeds, I have other seeds too - check my trade list. All my seeds are fresh from 2005, I just haven't updated the dates on my trade list.
Thanks!
Onalee
Have Purple Passion Vine (Maypop) / Want TRUE Roselle
You can find seeds for sale at Richters : http://www.richters.com/
You have to enter ROSELLE in the search engine, if you call them, the catalogue number is S5028-001, 2,50$ CA per packet. Red twigs and green leaves.
Thanks much for the info - I got 4 seeds in a trade earlier this winter, but apparently these aren't widely grown or the seeds aren't widely saved.
Thanks again!
Onalee
You are welcome! This plant begins to flower in september, and like morning glories, by the time you get home after work, the flowers are gone, that's a shame but the calix is still left to make tea.
Onalee,
Is this the Roselle (Florida Cranberry) Hibiscus - Hibiscus sabdariffa var. rubra? I have some that I purchased from you last spring. Want some back?
Pam
Hi Pam,
I'm actually looking for a green leaved variety -
Thanks much for the offer!
Onalee
Thanks, Donna - I appreciate it.
I'm looking for the one with Yellow flowers, green leaves and red stems that get the fruits on them.
Thanks again,
Onalee
Onalee, I know the one you're talking about. I saw it in a lady's garden in the next county over. The fruits are used to make aguas frescas. Let me check around and see if I can find some seed.
Hi, Onalee. So does mean that you would like some of the Hibiscus acetosella?
Here is info I found on the Hibiscus sabdariffa that has the yellow flowers. I think it is St. Croix that my boss has a condo on as is leaving for holidays in two days. If this is the case I'm going to tell her she has to bring back lots of seeds!

Hi Onalee, since you did not receive any offer, I still have some seeds left from last year (2005) that are not listed in my trade list, I will be glad to send you some. Do you think that I could have some Tithonia diversifolia in exchange? Do you think they might give some flowers here in the north like the orange ones if treated like annuals?

Hi all - sorry I hadn't gotten back to you sooner!
Donna- no, I don't need any H. Acetosella,
yes, the ones in the link are the ones I am looking for, if it's not too late! Thanks!
zarcanat - I am not sure if they will flower for you like the orange ones - they do grow much slower. I'd be happy to trade them - but I just don't know how they'll do for you.
thanks much!
Onalee
Onalee, I did order the seeds off ebay just incase my boss doesn't bring any back. If you can wait for a couple more weeks, I will know then if I have some.
:) Donna
sure, no problem Donna -
Let me know.
Thanks!
Onalee
I will definitely keep you posted.
:) Donna
