administering subq fluids

I was sent home this week with a big of fluids to give my kitty. I will need to give him fluids twice a week. I keep looking at the bag, trying to get up enough nerve... I've given shots without any problems in the past. However, this is making me nervous. Has anyone ever had to give their pet fluids? Can anyone offer any tips?
