Can I cut a rooted brug in half?

Yazoo City, MS(Zone 7b)

Hi all!
I have some rooted brugs that I just got. The thing is, they were 10+ inches tall when rooted, and since I don't exactly have the best of luck with them, I was wondering if I could cut them and make more and just root the cuttings from the cutting, and the big cutting still be OK.
Anyone ever done this?
Thanks for your advice!
Yvonne

Hi Yvonne
I think the key words here are (I just got).
I would not make any attempt to do this. They are most likely fragile at this time from making the trip and change in environment.
Just my opinion but it's just not a good time of the year to be messing with them.

Yes, I do it all the time. The trouble I see though is that it is winter and the plant many not be in the growing mode so the cuttings will be more prone to rotting.

I always try to have 2 or more nodes above and below the soil on each cutting.

Good luck!

Hi Kin, I cross posted to yours. So true! Especially in winter after a stressful trip. In spring brugs are so much more forgiving of everything we do to them.

Hey Kin, why up so late?

LOL Kell
Yes we did...
I don't know Yvonne method of growing cuttings. Spring time when there is active growing going on would be much better time to do this.

This is my normal time to be here...
I'm a Noc person.

I forgot! Though we usually see each other here from midnight to 2. Or am I dreaming. LOL

Thanks Kin and Kell!
I didn't even think of winter. It's not too cold here, but it is chilly...50's in day.
On cuttings, if they are soft (and these don't work too well for me), I dip in rooting hormone and put in well draining soil. On semi-hard, I get nubs growing in water, then put in dirt.
It's taken me 2 years to get to where I can half-way root brugs, and I still have trouble with some. Maybe one day I'll get 10% as good as Kell!! lol

Thanks again! I will wait. Impatiently, of course!!
Yvonne
