It is just the brug societies that are taboo, or promoting your own business. There's lots of discussion about where to buy plants and seeds - everyone is always looking for a good deal! There was some discussion today about seeds, I think. I'll see if I can find it and post a link. You will also find that people here are very generous with cuttings.

Just checked and the search engine is down right now, but you just go up in the righthand corner and fill out what you are looking for, and it will search the forums for you. By the way, welcome to DG and the brug addiction!
You can also go to the Garden Watchdog, and about halfway down the page there is a place to search by category; scroll down to Plant: Brugmansia (I think it is), and it will list vendors.
