I was unable to download pics for months, and was so excited to see I got my elusive camera-shy hummer after all (I didn't think I did!). Can't wait for him and all his friends to return!!
Wanted to Share!
I bet you were glad to see your birdy. I rarely see hummers and have remote chance of capturing one on camera. Even if I do see one it's almost impossible to get out the door without disturbing them. Congratulations.
Tammy, that is cool! Is that a morning glory he's after?
I just adore your picture, its just perfect.
Merigold, I bet if you spend alittle time near the feeder your humming bird will get used to you. Mine did, he wanted to eat so bad he couldn't wait for me to finish hanging up the feeder, he landed on my finger and ate while I stood there with my mouth hanging open and my eyes bugging out. A week later I was changing the feeder again and the silly bird was bombing my head as if to say "HEY LADY YA WANNA HURRY IT UP ALITTLE I'M STARVING OVER HERE!!!"
Another time my mom was watering her garden and she had the hose on mist and her hummer took a bath while she was a foot away, hers also likes a pink flowing skirt that she wears and he does fly bys when she is out in her yard with it on. They are brave little birds who have to eat alot and if you have a few minutes a day when your birds are bussiest, hang out near the feeder with the hose on mist and see what happens...
: )

Dena you have me smiling here. My mouth would be hanging open too! I need to make some effort next year to compel those little beauties, they do not frequent my yard very often. Thanks for the encouragement. Maridell
Maridell,
Plant some bee balm and they will come! LOL
Dena
There will be bee balm this spring! Gosh you have me thinking about planting now. Gotta go to the plant files and check bee balm out. Thanks. :)
Its of the mint family and you might want to plant it in a container. : )
Dena
Hmmm, I see that just typing the words plant file creates a link. Learned something new!
Dena, Your advice about a container is well taken. I have limited garden space and probably would want to control this one.
Love your picture. I have March 15 marked. That is when I saw my first one last year.
I started out trying to attract hummingbirds and got the added beauty of butterflies. Now I only plant flowers to attract and feed them.
You guys are so great!! I'm getting so psyched for Spring - and all it entails!!! :)
Oh - Kay - it's my Wisteria!! I can add one of it's babies to the others waiting for you when you come visit (what was it, a ginger and a bay leaf tree, right?).
