Hi,
I would like to exchange violet leaves with anyone in Canada that is interested. All mine are pretty much NOID's but I love them just the same.
Would love to get some of Rob's hybrids.
Thanks,
Joanne in Alberta
Any Canadian violet growers
Hiya Orkidlady, i did put one link to a Canadian grower in the sticky and I think Harbourcrest is in Canada too. http://www.harborcrestgardens.com/index.html
Hi Begoniacrazii...
Thank you so much for this site.
Joanne
orkidlady, you might zap a Dmail to PerennialGirl.... she's in Winnepeg, MB, and she was offering AVs for trade a while back. I'd also be willing to ship you some leaves for postage when the weather warms. Knowing how packages can get delayed at the border, I'm more hesitant to ship plantlets, but I think leaves have a better chance of making it -- and it's easier to send them again if they don't. Give me a nudge in a couple of months.... :-)
Joanne
Welcome to our African violet forum !
2zeus also lives in Canada.
I will also be happy to ship to you spring :))
Allison
Hi Allison,
Do I need to have a phytosanitary certificate to bring them into Canada? That can get quite costly...did it once and I won't do it again...so much hassle. At least it was back then about five years ago.
Thanks for responding...looking forward to hearing from you.
Joanne
Hi Joanne,
I'm on Vancouver Island, and am just getting started on AV's, unlike the raving addicts on this forum - ie- Allison, who has approx 3 billion named varieties,(hee hee!) I've only got a few noids, but am always up for trades! You can never have too many AV's, right?
Cheryl
RIGHT!
I'm not a raving addict, either... but with all those little leaf pots I've got started, I suspect I'm on my way.
"phytosanitary certificate" what is that? LOL the things I learn on here. : )
critterologist, take it from an observer, you are an addict - we can't always see this for ourselves, eh?:)

Morning Cheryl,
Welll I have quite a few african violets but they are all NOIDS as well....it is good we have some CDN people here so possibly we could do some trading of leaves.
I love all flowers but orchids and violets are my favorite.
I just potted a bunch of leaves I had growing as I plan to have a plant sale in the spring and I have violets coming out of my yin yang right now.
I also put a bunch more down and used vermiculite this time as I had forgotten about using that medium until I read it in one of my magazines.
HadfieldP....here is info on phytosanitary certificate:

Does anyone know what happend to Alannah Greenhouse in BC I think she was.
I got some really cute mini geraniums, a few mini violets, and a mini begonia but she is no longer in business and I just wondered what happened.

Sorry to say Alannah passed away. I don't have a web sight or sell but would send you them for shipping.
I really like and enjoy the Canadian Hyrbrids .
I have some Russian and Swedish but you can't beat the Canadian hybrids !

Hi Allison,
Oh that is so sad! I am sorry to hear that...I wondered what happened because I was sure happy with what I bought from her.
How much would shipping be and what are the prices? Thank you so much for sending the link. I don't know what any of them look like though because all of mine are NOIDS....
Thank you so much. I live in Drumheller, AB.
Joanne
It depends on weight. But I will average a box 0-4 pounds about $16.00. I don't like to go over four pounds for out of the Country. I would not ship thow until April/May until it's warmm. The box on most cases takes 5-10 days. There are faster ways but cost more.
Alllison
PS the cost of shipping out of the country is about the same as in USA except you have to use plain boxes, plain tape, package more secure , and do paper work.
