This is my first year with brugs and oh boy what a ride ! They are overwintering indoors with lights and have been attacked by first aphids then mites now its thrips or white flies the fun never ends with this plant hope they can survive another month I think when they are outside i can be more thorough with my spraying plus its a ladybug oasis here in the summer I see them even now on warm days any suggestions are always helpful but I'm mostly just venting thanks and have a good day.
aphids,mites now thrips
Oh that sounds just terrible. That is the problem with these, bugs love them. I had never had such problems till I got so many brugs. I have bought so much Neem!!
You might try that Bayer soil drench for Tree and Shrub. It is easier to apply than spray for it goes on the soil and it kills aphids, whitefly and maybe thrip. I do not know for sure on the thrips. No mites though.
I have used the Rose food and systemic for the mites. But it is a bad insecticide I hear and it smells. Though it is in a very low dose in the Bayer rose food and systemic granules. It can burn though so beware. Just in case you decide to try it, water the plant the day before. Sprinkle the stuff evenly over the top, and do not be heavy handed.
GOOD LUCK!!

tednugent, I really feel for you. This past summer was the worse summer I have ever had as far as spider mites, cats and anyother bug that could attack my brugs. I am sure hoping this summer is better.
If you want to get rid of thrips quickly, use Thiodan, and Di Systen in the spring.
The recipe I used is:
4 tablespoons thiodan per gallon spray
1/2 Mountain Dew Code Red (attracts the thrips)
I was wondering where you were Sherry! I haven't seen you about. I was going to email you later tonight. Hope all is well.
That is so nice, Kell, thank you so very much!! I LOVE your school photo, 'that girl' do is wonderful, you have great hair!! I've been right here but taking my aunt and hubby's mom for their appointments, hair, doc, dentist and shopping. And, DG has been slow to accept posts/photos and I just learned today that Dave has been making lots of changes, which I'm certain is what slowed us down, but will be great when it all settles in. I'm looking forward to Kell seeds, my seedlings were so nice, I'd love to make it a double feature!!! I appreciate your post!!!
