My little Doxie went out to potty tonight and immediately started squealing and
squealing. I yelled...more like screamed She is hurt something hurt her.
I ran out the door and she had her one back leg up and was headed to the house. I immediately picked her up and brought her in the house. I saw blood on her stomach by her back leg and handed her to my DS. I got my shoes on and there was a big stick on the porch. I started beating the bushes andwalking thru the yard beating more bushes. I think if I would have found what ever it was I would have tore it apart.
My DS came out and said it was probably long gone and I did not need to be bit.
I came in and held her crying and telling her I was sorry. Her hind leg has two big holes on the inside next to her stomach. She is so black I couldn't see much else.She is in alot of pain so DH gave her a baby aspirin and I poured peroxide over her leg several times.
I think it may have been a oppossum. As we had one earlier in the year. I am going to call the city for a cage tomorrow. I pray it doesn't have rabies. She had her shot but I
don't want her sick. I will get triple antibiotic ointment tomorrow and keep it cleaned out. If it doesn't look good in a day or 2 I will take her to the Vet.
My heart breaks when I can't seem to protect my babies.
