Hi everyone. Well, my violets are doing really great. I have lots and lots of little blooms starting. : ) My mom's favorite plant was bougainvillea, and I think I want to try one. Is there somewhere on Dave's that talks about them? Thanks.

I dont' know if there is somewhere to talk about them BUT
I have dwarf bougainvillea in my front yard and I have a pink and white flower type large variety in my back yard.
I could send you cuttings of either or both.
Bougainvillea like it DRY..they don't like watering systems and do well when just left on their own :)

Thanks, Lorry. That would be really great. I would be glad to pay the cost of mailing. I grew up on Merritt Island. My mom had the most beautiful bougainvillea in the backyard. I really don't think she did much of anything to it. I want to grow them in pots. Do they need humidity in the air like AVs?
No not really....I will take some clippings from them this week and ship them out to you :)
Just as long as you don't overwater them they should be fine BUT as a houseplant they would need A LOT of light..they LOVE light especially to flower...Will have the pots outside?
Yes, I can keep them outside. I will have to read up on them. : ) AVs are really the only thing I have ever grown, and that has been all of about 4 months. What do you do to the roots before you plant them? And what kind of soil do you like? Pam
Actually they are a no fuss no muss plant! They like it dry, sunny and anything that is well draining. They really don't like to stay wet.
I will have Chris cut you some next week and I will ship them out.
We have never tried to root them so that you may have to look up..though I doubt it would be hard.

You could put them in a bucket of moist perilite to root !
I've been reading on the web, and perlite was mentioned. So it sounds like I already have the stuff I need. This is fun. : ) OK, I draw the line at one other plant besides AVs...................................... : )
