MsC, what do you do as far as care for this beauty? is it about the same as your AV's? or do you do anything a bit different?

Anita, you can view the Gessie sticky and I have made links to vendors - some with notations as to what gessies they sell to make life easy.

Thanks - I noted on one site they mention that the Sinningia go dormant - is this true for all varieties?

DC metro, VA(Zone 7b)

it's lovely!!!! nicely grown.

I'm gonna start a thread on Sinningias because I do love them a lot.

Cindy-ella is a very special one. Cindy-ella was created by treating a tuber of Cindy (concinna x eumorpha) with colchicine. That made it a tetraploid (4N) - tetraploids are generally more vigorous than the standard diploids (2N), and they are fertile too.... Cindy, in contrast, was a sterile diploid. Without Cindy-ella, we wouldn't have a lot of the mini Sinningias that we have now.

oh, and here's a pic of a hybrid created by crossing Cindy-ella with another mini: http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/548365/

What a cool bit of background info! I had no idea.... Thanks!

Anita ,
Yes some do but with a lil time and the right conditions they are pretty easy to deal with. Trust me if I can do it anyone can. My Dolly Baby went dormant and is just now breaking dormancy.

I love my sinningias and are one of the few plants I will always have for my terrariums. They are easy!!

I have 2 others of the mini sinnigias Keyring sent me in trade and love them.
