I went digging and read the AGGS society page...they started in 1950 and your will find some famous names listed such as Francis Batchweller And Elvin McDonald....both giants that have made much of todays gesneriads possible...They recently voted to change their magazine name from the Gloxinian to Gesneriads.....it comes with their $25.00 yearly membership (cheaper more than one year) and i believe very important...members still have access to the seed fund....Indeed every new member gets a package of seeds.........plus a weath of information...shows...sales etc...the link is

thanks...great link....i must admit i have a special fondness for the AGGS as they were kind of the "underdog" in the 60's when i was active..it always appeared or gave the impression (at least to some of us) that the AVSA..was a bit snobbish?...is that the word....or maybe took themselves a bit too seriously?...any way that was decades ago and many good persons in all groups with which i associated...
How cold do you think it will be over the weekend, jungle bob.
ninanana
It's been 30's high 59 here today. Heats a running :))
Tonight will be cold too.
nina..suppose to be 38 in the morning...still windy i think..that should help..but i'm tired of the wind..it was bad today....than suppose to warm to 70's on monday...
I fear the wind will blow all my sheets off my plants. Good thing I don't have company because every extra sheet, blanket, quilt, and pillow case are in my garden.
You have anything to trade?
WELL nina...everything is alright this morning...winds have died down some...i don't cover plants or anything...they have to fend for themselves...i am just getting back into gesneriads..so really don't have much to trade...i have plumeria..but they are much too expensive...they are mostly asleep right now..waiting for the spring heat up...me too...lol
I am not over covering them yet.
I am learning new vocabulary everday, gesneriads and opulent plumeria, with their alter ego names of gloxinia and frangipani.
I am also learning about expensive over on the daylily, or hemerocalis, forum where I have been invited to a sale of daylilies. One daylily can cost thousands of dollars, no telling how much it is going to cost to spend money to save money.
I have a lot of african iris seeds and plants. Want any?

I have three red gloxinias from the Marine Corps Ball that I must plant lest they perish in this wind.
well nina be sure and plant those gloxinias...don't want you to lose them...bob
