Oxygen Needed!!!

Milton, VT(Zone 4a)

I know that Hydroponics takes advantage of the additional amount of oxygen to inhance growth. I thought that someone here might have an inexpensive recipe for a water oxygenator. I'd like to use this not only for drinking water but also for watering soil potted plants.

Any designs, Ideas???

Thanks

not sure for drinking but for hydro simple fish tank air pump and air stone in the nutrient resivore
and you can also add Co2 to the room.

Sounds good...

Actually I have heard quite a lot about the health benefits of oxygenated drinking water. The medical store I visited recently had a tank that not only added oxygen, but filtered impurities using charcoal.

I wonder if adding a little hydrogen peroxide to your nutrient water would have the same effect.

H2O2 would need iron to separate it. You may already be using coperas FeS.

I have used Hydrogen Peroxide(H202) in my small pond to ward off string algae with success. does this mean that the algae contains iron? The tap water may also have traces of iron as well. It's a good thought 'MainMan', and an interesting point 'UUallace'.
Any ideas on how to test your water for such minerals?

A galvanometer would test total dissolved salts. Radio Shack should have it. Their website is aweful. Under 'cables' they have 'test and measuring equipment'. There is only a single item.
I had a Rapitest briefly. It was claimed to test nitrogen. Most nitrogen is from plant material. Also ammonium nitrate has more N than other ammonium salts or other nitrates. A galvanometer does not distinguish between calcium carbonate or other salts.

You can get water test kits at pet stores. They make many different types, Ca, Cl, Mg, Mn, Fe, Nitrate, Ammonia, Nitrite, Iodine, pH, and serveral others that I can not think of right now.

Asthama people should not drink carbonated beverages because of the Co2 (Carbon Dioxide); it depletes the oxygen in your lungs & body. Your body tries to rid it's self of this "Chemical" every single minute you're alive; because of it's harmful effects to you cells.

When my doctor told me this I couldn't believe it; but I researched it.

"Most commercial carbon dioxide is recovered as a by-product of other processes, such as the production of ethanol by fermentation and the manufacture of ammonia. Some Co2 is obtained from the combustion of coke or other carbon-containing fuels."
