I have had my water baby for 13 years...

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

It was about 13 years ago give or take a month that I brought this guy home to a 20 gallon tank. I worked at the pet shop and they don't bother to tell you, because they don't know or care to, they get 2 ft plus. He is now around 20 inches long. He is in a 135 gallon tank. The tank is 18 inches wide and he has to curve his body some to turn around.

He or she is a fresh water irridessant shark. Most people who see him say he is a catfish, but a friend of my neighbors who shark fishes came over one day and said he is definitely a shark.

I had an albino but he died a couple years ago. Beautiful with red eyes. It was really high strung. It would get spooked over nothing and take off across the tank and bust its nose wide open.

No he doesn't bite. He eats shrimp pellets that sink to the bottom. He sucks them up and then spits out the rocks. Really funny to watch. I sometimes wonder how many rocks he may have in his stomach.

I don't know if you can see the the size of the algae eater (pleco) on the bottom but he is also huge. I buy him broccoli because there is not enough algae to keep him alive.

Old wives tail that a fish will not out grow his tank. They actually end up stressing out and
dying from to small of a tank.

Ain't he something?

Blessings,
Sandy ^8^
