....or is he looking younger? Picture of Ed Gilding and his cultivar H. cv. Monette...taken this morning.
Am I getting older....
Carol - Um, nice looking young man who is knowledgable re hoyas, breathtaking hoya cv Monette blooms and incredible hoya leaves - are you writing us from heaven??? Karen
Good grief, I wondered what Ed Gilding looked like. However, I always imagined him MUCH older. He looks like he is in high school. How did he get so knowlegable about hoyas at such a young age?
Now, as for that plant with the HUGE leaves....What in the world kind of hoya IS that?? I thought latifolia and glabra had big leaves, but that has got to be the KING KONG of all hoyas. Ha.
Thanks for the eye candy.
Marcy
It's funny how you can have how people look pictured in your mind and then when you finally see them they don't look anything like you pictured. I agree with Marcy, Ed looks like he's in high school. He is a cutie:-). Oh and the hoya's nice too!
Blessings,
Awanda
OH MY GOSH........
And the plants are are very nice too....... :)
Oh for pete's sake would you look at the blooms on the H. cv. Monette! Tell Ed that Kukana says to grow his hair back out again! Have a great visit and see if he will take my slippers for a walk. Yes, I know his feet are probably bigger than mine but they need some 'seasoning' from another hoya expert. I bet I am missing some great conversations.
Wow. Look at the size of those blooms too.
Patti
I have to say, both are very good looking. Is Ed back in Hawaii or just on break? Carol are these pictures of your plants?
I don't know about anyone else, but I got great giggles from all the comments. This was a fun post.
Deb
Alas...he is here just for a visit for 48 hours...he says, "a vacation from his vacation". We made paella, drank wine, after naps of course and tomorrow..., whatever. Not only is he good looking, 6'9" but one of the most gentle and genuinely NICEST men I have known!!!
HOLY GUACAMOLIE! Just gorgeous.....(oh and the hoya too!)
Hee hee!
Ed is 6'9".......Tell him I will have no problem recognizing him at the Triple Rock!!! Tell him I am patiently waiting for him to show up on one of my Sunday shifts!! All he has to do is show up after 5. It's a pretty good deal for him, I'll buy him some dinner and a couple of beers!! We've got the best jukebox in the twin cities. All I need is one hoya house call, lol!! Really hope he fits in our house. Low ceilings!
Heather
Rhitt, rheww!! ;)
I think I've seen *one* photo before....and he had more hair....if the photo I'm thinking of was him......I agree...he *does* look younger!!
(Heather.....tsk, tsk!! Lol!)
Thanks Nan....for a moment there, I thought it was me. ROTFLMBO
Carol....you must elaborate please on that hoya with the enormous leaves.
Marcy...it is one of the H. aff latifolia, from David Liddle. I have the IML# buried somewhere. not a fast grower....but steady. I don't think it is on his Sales List.
OH, by the way, if anyone wants his sales list...send me a DMail. I can forward it on.
Carol
Great photos, thanks. I have 'monette' on my must have list. The other one is great too. Is Ed as young as he looks? How did he get started with hoyas? and where is he from?
edited to say I mean where does he live?

Heather, here's hoping Ed shows up at the Triple Rock.! Everyone needs new hoya buddies.
Heck if I ever come to Minneapolis I will come to the Triple Rock and buy my own dinner and beers just to hang out with you for an hour or so.
Don't expect me to show up until the temperature is 60 or above though!
Ed's very photogenic- I bet he Loves Those Flashbulbs! It's nice to have a human figure near the plants for size comparison.
Ed's 29...long time into hoyas, and has even gone on collecting trips with Ted Green and Dale K. He is from Pearl City, near Honolulu, went to UH at Hilo and is in the PhD program at UofMin. I think he looks 16....
He's cute! Tell Ed he is as georgeous as his cv. Monette cultivar!!
Ann
What is Triple Rock?
I'll have to keep my eye out for a start of 'monette'

Cool website, Heather!!! Looks like a fun place to be!
Carol
Looks like a fun place, I'm afraid it's a bit far for me.
Wow Heather the food menu is awesome! I'll stop by too if I'm ever in the area!
Blessings,
Awanda
vegan white russians? Thats a new one. Looks like it could be a crazy time.
Tell me about it, we have vegan bloody mary mix for those who request it! Did you know that Guiness beer isn't vegan. It has animal protein in it! Crazy.
Heather
What? animal protein in beers? I'm going to have to pounder on that one. I love bloody Marys.... I just don't get where there is animal protein in one though, vodka and tomatoe juice and vegies? Oh I get it, maybe thats why it's vegan....DUH.... Yep I could see having toooo much fun there.
Beef Broth?
Sorry to steal this thread, there's something in the bloody mary mix we use that isn't vegan friendly. So if they ask for it vegan, we use plain ol' tomato juice. Of course if you want the white russian, you get soy milk. It's funny, when anyone asks me about the vegan food on the menu, I always honestly reply, I'm meat and potatoes, never tried that entree. However, the steak sandwich is delicious. Just keeping it honest ya know.
Heather
Be still my heart..........about hoya, Ed and white Russian with a good jukebox.
BDunn, I second that emotion!!
