Shady vine in Houston?

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Does anyone have any good ideas? Right now I have a rose on the wall just outside my front door, but it doesn't get much sun and it always looks very sad. I need something to put there that won't try to run around the corner to find sunlight. :-) I'd be ok with it not blooming as long as it isn't poisonous and is preferably not TOO thorny, since I have two little folk. I'll take a picture of the area tomorrow.

Thanks!!

You could try my favorite, Crossvine, Bignonia capreolata.
It is evergreen, no thorns, can take some shade, and is very resistant it insects and desease, I have never had any trouble with mine in the seven years I have had it.
It also blooms very heavily in spring, I love it. Of course it is also a Texas Native.
Here is a link for you to see.

Cross vine is what I'd recommend and it does come in 3 or more varieties.
