HELP! Dypsis lutescens from offsets?

SF Bay Area, CA(Zone 9b)

I just repotted a multi-trunked Dypsis lutescens that I purchased at a garden center for $12. During the repotting, I decided that 10+ trunks (including some new offsets that were coming up) was too much, so I kept the six largest.. I broke off the remaining offsets at the base. They now look like large onions with green palmlike tops. Is there any way to root these? I've read that it is "easily propagated from even the smallest divisions" (I think in PlantFiles), but can't really find any information on how to do this. Will they root in a glass of tap water? Peat? Peat/Sand/Perlite? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

If you offsets have no roots at all, you are probably out of luck. But if you want to try it anyway, you need to cut off all but may 1/2 of one leaf, or your suckers will desicate (which they probably will anyway). Very moist sterile soil is what I would recommend, and maybe use a lot of root tone... not had a lot of luck separating these clumps of Dypsis into more than one, maybe two, living divisions. Warmth (90s) and high humidity helps, without any extremes. Then you might have luck.
