I haven't but have heard mixed reviews. Check out the garden watchdog for more on others reviews.

It's a goal of mine to make the drive. They're a Begonia Heaven! I have a 'want' list a mile long. But I'll wait until the Miami trip to see what I pick up there. I sure hope we get to hook up while I'm there, I'm hoping to meet up with a few DG'ers

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

Where in Miami are you planning to pick up plants?
I would LOVE to see you girlie! So that is a definite..just remind me of the dates when it is closer! Perhaps I can even bring you some goodies!

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

Oh Ok I've seen this link before. I always wondered what their basket was like..size of plants.. Now I can see yours before buying :))

Kartuz usually takes a long time to ship - I think they prop after they get the order. Really nice people though (so I hear). I find that their mix does not work for me, so I repot everything upon receipt. That also gives me a chance to check how well they have rooted - some things faster than others. Their selection is really nice.

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

Thanks for the tips and I am in no real hurry :)
Well I am but I can cap it :)
I will have to look into the care of sinningas a bit since I have one coming in *WoOHOOO*
So that will give me time to look around and see :)

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

Yup I will take a picture of them when they get here Allison :)
SO you can see :)
and hopefully I will be able to share these lovelies at some point!

S Cherry Sprite looks like a mini, not a micro mini, so you can probably grow it with the AVs. Up north in the dry winters, I'd say terrarium would be better, but I don't think humidity level will be an issue for you. As with anything, if the root structure is weak, give it added humidity until it adjust and grows more roots.

I talked world politics and philosophy with a fellow at Kartuz one boring fall day... He was nice. Plants? I don't know!

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

Ok thanks Keyring :) I am going to try my luck with them! I figured I would just go mini to start!
I really appreciate your input.

Missouri City, TX(Zone 9a)

Have ordered from them in the past and they are great- my daughter orders from them often, never had any problems.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Lorry any plants yet ? It's been two weeks sense you ordered . have you heard from them ? I want to see yours before I try them out :))
Thanks, Allison

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

I haven't heard anything from them :(
I am thinking about sending them an email and see what is up!

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Yeah did they take your money ?

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

Yup they sure did! Though many people say they are slow so gonna give it another week then I will contact him to see what is up.
Before I order, I emailed him and he said they ship this time of yr.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

I can't wait to see your's :)) See what their plants are like, size qulity beforeI get some. :))

DC metro, VA(Zone 7b)

yes, they are slow, but these are good guys - been in business quite some time and introduced many hybrids etc. Yes, it would be nice if they would switch to Internet speed, but..... I think my past orders have taken a couple of months. I remember getting emails confirming receipt well after I'd forgotten that I had placed the order. But, well, they offer a very nice selection....

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

i have such little patience....whenever i sell on ebay..i send out the minute the money is paid...but i understand there may be other reasons folks can't do that..

DC metro, VA(Zone 7b)

On ebay you should be doing that - ebay is Internet age. Sometimes the gesneriad world is .... in a different time zone. Seed orders from the Gesneriad Soc was averaging about 2 months (don't quote me on that but it was a long time) - I think they are trying to speed it up. Ges Soc publications were also taking about that long. Of course, the GS is volunteer-based, so I think it's ok, but.... I'm just glad they have their catalog on the web (even if the 2006 one is still in progress....)

Missouri City, TX(Zone 9a)

My order from them was quicker, but it was last year before winter had hit those areas of the country that actually get winter. I have sent orders in to some nurserys and rec'd emails back saying thank you, will ship in March or April. That's a little annoying but I guess not everybody has the same sense of urgency as I do.

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

april...i am so impatient....that's why i was stunned to be so patient taking care of my folks who passed at age 90.....the nurses would come by and say...YOU'RE SO PATIENT...I about fell over...he he...i

DC metro, VA(Zone 7b)

well, I'm not trying to defend slow order processing. I think that once you decide to put your catalog on the web, you have to adjust to shipping promptly.

On the other hand, I also hear about how we are losing our gesneriad sources. Some of the other mostly non-av gesneriad growers are aging and/or have health problems.... Some may close down if there is no one to take over, and *poof* there goes the only source of many plants. There aren't that many in this business to begin with. Add to that the decline of the seeds available through the GS seed fund (massive effort to increase the fund right now) .... all in all, it's not a pretty picture. So I guess I can't help but have some sympathy.

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

absolutely....i agree.
