We let our Fritzie go this morning..

This is the hardest thing I have ever done. Laurie gave me some great info in another thread the other day and I was excited to maybe have a few options. But when I took him in this morning and they ran the test that tells how well the kidneys are functioning the vet felt that the damage was just too much to overcome due to his age and the fact that the poor old guy hadn't yet kicked the respiratory infection. I was able to stay with him until the end and even for some time after. It is a very painful thing to experience but I must say I am so happy he is no longer suffering. He hadn't eaten on his own for almost a month and didn't even have the strength to make it to the litterbox. Thank you all who sent prayers our way through this ordeal. He is in a better place now.
