Greetings,
I'm not a regular on this forum though I DO have a number of African Violets. I've noticed recently that some of my violets have become infested with aphids that came in on another plant from the garden last summer. I would spray my other plants thoroughly with an insecticidal soap solution in an effort to get rid of them, but can I do that on African Violets. Or is there a better way?
Thanks
Ann
Aphids on African Violets
Viola, take a look at our AV link at this thread. Go to the Pest and Problems section (perhaps Optimara is a good place to start)
and see if you can find the answer. I have sprayed mine with soap mixed with neem but I am so new at this too that I'd hate to offer bad advise!

yes you can - you can even up-end the plant and immerse the whole foliage in a basin of soap solution.
Two important points: use WARM water and DRY the crown after you're done. I do the latter by sticking a piece of kitchen paper into the crown to sop up the water, and repeating until dry.
Thanks, keyring. That looks like sound advice. Given that you generally don't water them from above, I was a bit worried about immsering them, but I'll try it.
