Our weather has just been awesome...Lows in the upper 50's-60's highs in the 70's..
Do you think it would be alright to set my potted baby brugs out on the covered deck..
Would it throw them into shock if I had to bring them back inside if another cold front ever
comes through?
The ones I cut down in the ground and mulched are showing growth already.. I haven't pulled the mulch back should I?
Starting the New Year off just full of questions...
Thanks for the help..

Spring has sprung..(maybe)
Hi Ronda. I would think it would be OK to set them out. I would do it. How cold might it get? Lots of mine are outside all winter and it can get into the 30s. I do not bring them back and forth. I may toss a sheet over them if it is going to frost though.
I notice at times my brugs will drop leaves if I move them and there is a drastic change in their environment, usually to less light triggers it. The leaves grow right back though. Always be careful to slow your watering when they drop their leaves for they do not need as much.
I have no clue aobut the mulching. Off hand I would say leave it. You might want to keep an eye out for rot, if the mulch gets real wet around the tender new shoots and just sits there wet. I do not mulch so I have no personal experience. Maybe a mulcher will pass on thru here and let us know the best course.
How lucky are you to have such temperate weather. I am drowning here!
Ronda,
I don't know where Shelbyville is, but I live about 55 miles southeast of Austin and January is usually the month with our coldest temperatures ( down into the teens). Temperatures can be all over the map so perhaps you should ask knowledgeable neighbors or your local extension agent about weather fluxuations in your area.
Kell, please send some of that rain toward Texas. We are having the worst drought in 50 years.
Veronica
Veronica I am in southeast Texas close to the La. border...Jan. is usually our coldest month too but we don't make it to the teens.. Our low average for this coming week are in the 40's highs in the 70's. If it drops below 40 I will bring them inside.. We seem to have had our winter early back in Nov. which was unusual to get down to 29. We are in the drought too.. If it keeps up I'll be able to walk across what used to be Toledo Bend Lake in order to get to Louisiana..
Kell wasn't sure if I was supposed to mulch but I figured better safe than sorry... Mom has a Frosty Pink that is 3 yrs old in ground and she doesn't do anything to it...Comes back bigger every year....Wasn't sure if the white ones I had were as hardy.. I just kinda fluffed the straw around the ones in the yard without removing it...
Thanks for the help..
Ronda
Rhonda, which zone are you in and where on the LA border do you live?? There are lots on this forum from your general area, and the zone really helps...
