My word, what a surprise, how did all of you know my fav color, lol!!! Your photos and your flowers are oh so beautiful!! Thank you all for remembering me on my b-day, which started on New Year's Eve, when our family welcomes in the new year aka my b-day. Saves buying two sets of paper plates. So, I'm sending three photos, the first is of my oldest son, Chuck, who did the cooking at the port property where we gathered, 6 miles from our house, on the MS river. We just started seriously developing it for a get away for our family...

Son Chuck has a little Air-Stream, at the port, where we gathered to ring in the New Year, and celebrate my b-day, and our anniversary. We plan to build a cypress lodge in the next year or two. Not a late night, Chuck's fireworks display started at 9pm. The battery on my camera went out, so I have no photos, but Chuck fired them off the dock, which is high and way out in the river and they were absolutely unbelievable and beautiful, we've never seen better!!

Prior to dinner, the kids rode 4 wheelers on the beach and woody trails. Our entertainment was Randy from AL, who is a falconer, and his bird is Chance, but he's a red tailed hawk. Randy rescues birds and trains birds, and then trains the bird with the owner. Chance is Randy's, raised from a baby, when he was found injured, close to death, with a band - Randy prayed for the bird to be given a 'chance' - oh the power of prayer!!! Randy and Chance are amazing, what a beautiful sight seeing Chance fly & work over the river was breathtaking and those photos were a bust because my digi won't zoom that far. Chance would get so far away it was scary, Randy never wavered, and Chance returned, straight as an arrow, time after time. I hope you enjoy my photos. Again, thank you all for a wonderful b-day, I appreciate each and every one of you being here and I hope the new year brings you good health and great joy, and wonderful big, fat, double red brugs, that are despised by bugs, require little tending, water and fert, and will grow in wind, rain, sleet, snow, hail and thrive in temps of 115 degrees to below -25, and pod and root in a flash!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Sherry for your kind words!

Looks like you guys had a great 3 in1 celebration! What fun to have such a big family! Fireworks too!! Your DH is so handsome! Happy Anniversary too!

I wonder if Chance ever goes a bit afield up there looking for girl hawk! LOL

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

I wondered the same thing, great minds, huh. Chance is a 'baby'. Red-tails do not mate until they are 3 years, and when Chance shows interest, Randy will reintroduce him to the wild. This is part of the falconer program, which is strictly and well regulated, with lots of honor. All red tailed hawks leave the falconer at mating age, they are monogamous, unless the partner dies, then some red-tails will take new mates. He said, if a hawk/falcon is not well taken care of, the bird will pout and misbehave, they do NOT want their home or surroundings to be cluttered or unclean. Randy has one of those things to water parrots and even tho the water is fresh, he changes it three times a day, every day, and where Randy goes, so does Chance. Chance is a fortunate young hawk.

Poppie is pretty cute, thank you very much, Kell!!
