Source for hedychium?

Anyone know of a less expensive source besides the 2 listed here at PlantScout? I cannot afford their minimun order prices.

I am looking for the white butterfly ginger.

Berrygirl, If you can attend the GARU on May 6, I am positive that someone could bring you some. That's where I got mine several years ago and a little bit spreads to make a nice size in no time! Lots of the folks that attend the GARU's have different gingers and White Butterfly is fairly common.

Yep, you could get some from me just like Nat did! Those rizomes are pretty darn heavy to mail too! Do you get the Market Bulliten? LMK if you need more info on it.

Don't know if I will make it to the RU. Would be great if I could. I have been wanting to go ever since I signed up at DG a few yrs ago and started hearing about it.

Maybe someone has a broken off piece I could get in trade or if someone divides theirs? [Don't even know if you do that with gingers]. Of course I would reimburse any shipping costs.

So getting them from a commercial source is gonna be $$$ no matter what CO I choose b/c of their size? Since I don't know this plant I assumed it was like a canna or something. Now I know why they are so pricey- like crinums- LOL!

Georgia's Market Bulletin is online also. I don't have the link but you can go to the Gaorgia Dept. of Agriculture Site and search for the MB.

Am I red-faced! Someone from SC has to tell a GA girl what's avail in her own state- LOL! I am not that familiar with the bulletin and I have only looked at my FIL's a couple of times. Thought they were an 'old-timey' outfit and wouldn't know about cyberspace. Shows you what I know!

I know about GA's bulletin because it is easier to read than SC's. Our is in adobe and it is such a pain to scroll through.

Also, I live pretty close to Savannah so I am almost a Georgian LOL.

berrygirl, I don't know if I'll make it to the GA swap, I'd love to, but just don't know yet. But, I can send some by tiG or someone else that comes to the FL/AL swap a couple of weeks before the GA one, or I can mail you some if you want it sooner. You could send whatever amount your're willing to spend in postage and I'll send as many rhizomes as will go for that amount. They are kinda heavy, but if the po still has that box you can stuff all you want for a certain price, I'm good at stuffing.
