The Crinum that won't quit

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

Mrs. James Hendry just doesn't seem to know it is January. In her defense, we have had beautiful weather with only one cold day this year.
A lot of my spring bulbs are also coming up, I hope they make it through the inevitable cold snap

Last picture was taken on Christmas day. This one was taken yesterday; she is determined to bloom.

What an endearing little creature.
How cold have your nights gotten?

We had one night in the mid thirties but the norm has been mid 40's. This week it has been unusually warm with nights in the 50's. For the last 5 days we have hit 70 during the day and today is supposed to be the same and we are having a gentle rain this morning. New growth is popping up all over the garden.

Wow Alice, you lucky lady !! I have some leaves on my crinums but no blooms yet. Please post a picture of the flower when it opens. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas and A happy New Year ! God bless you and your family, Margo

Margo, What do you mean had????? I am still enjoying the holidays and haven't even started the cards yet :-)))))))

This crinum just never stopped blooming. She even put out a new pup just for you!!!! Wait until you smell the fragrance; it is just heavenly.

I am so afraid everything is going to look like toast if we ever get cold weather this year. My newly planted asiatic bulbs are coming up already. Not a good thing.

Ahh, tell her thank you for having babies just for me, I can't wait to have this never-ending beauty!!
Lucky you...still enjoying the Holidays! I started packing all of our "stuff" up today. My BIL and Niece are coming Friday night from Virginia. They will only be here through Sunday, but at least we get to spend a couple days with them.
My Asiatics, orientals and orienpets are still being good in their underground beds. I keep looking for them to pop up, but so far nothing. My Paperwhites are budding up. I love their fragrance, too.
God bless and be safe, Margo

Ardesia...My crinums are just starting to open their buds...uhg, and we are being told we will have a freeze here this weekend! I'll spend tomorrow trying to cover everything up.

This is what greeted me this morning. The color is a bit paler than normal but I guess that is to be expected this time of year. A friend just asked me if it wasn't early for a crinum and I had to laugh and say no, in this case it was late. Nothing has died back yet but we are supposed to have really cold weather tonight, I hate that this beautful flower may get knocked back. The fragrence is heavenly.
