Burned the black-eyed peas :(

I forgot to put the black-eyed peas in to soak before bed last night, so I had to put them in my not-so-great pressure cooker this morning. I put the timer on but couldn't hear it when it went off. To make a long story short - the cooker didn't seal; the water boiled out; and I burned my peas. They're for good luck today!!! Waaaaaaaaah! (Can you see my Lucy imitation?) DH has already asked if burning the good luck token is a bad omen. :( I think I better crawl in a hole - a well amended one, maybe?)
