And guess what? Can I quiz ya'll again about a malfoogerty I'm having?
My scanner (HP Scanjet ADF) sure runs slow now, if at all. The lamp comes on to heat up but then the machine seems to just sit there and doesn't "preview". On the few times it does let me Preview it makes a noise like it is going to do so but then goes into its "lazy mode", not doing anything. (I've given up waiting on it quite a few times now...have even waited 30 minutes before.)
Today I turned off all other programs running (disconnected from I-net, shut down some of the Start-up programs, etc) thinking I was using too much memory or something. (My FreeRam shows I have 50% memory free though so not sure it could be that.) After waiting for the scanner I was able to get one scan; that waiting was 30 minutes or so. Tried to do another scan and it went back into 'lazy mode'.
Does this mean my scanner is finally shot? (It's about 3-5 yrs old!) Or is something going on behind the scenes I'm not aware of? Does the lamp ever need replacing or is that a factor to consider? Is it time to find a newer one (that is inexpensive!)?
Between the scanner not cooperating and my camera not downloading pics (think my Dock might be broken!) I'm having a heck of a time! Thanks for any suggestions you can think of!
