Hope you don't mind my butting in.
Do either of you know about a marigold that grows like a bush (~ 3 ft)?
I had seeds long ago and really miss this plant.
ROX
What kind of flowers did it have, Rox? The licorice one that is offered here is a tall bush type but the flowers are tiny and yellow. It makes a great plant, though. I would be asking for seed if I didn't already have the plant. It is a perennial here. I like to pull a leaf off and chew it. Or rub your hands on it. LOL
Windy-
The flowers were orange and about 1" in diameter. Could it have been tagetes erectus?
Peggy-
Your tagetes lucida does sound wonderful and I would love to see if it is deer resistant [I have several test beds]. I don't have many seeds at this time of year for trade but I do have some varieties of california poppy [native and other] . I also collected seeds from a native jack-in-the pulpit but I have no idea whether they will germinate.
ROX
bigred, If you have extra, I would love to trade. I have everything you can imagine. I have MG, poppy, dianthis, sunflowers (several types), moon vines, pampas grass, clematis, etc. I don't have a trade list yet, I am working on one. LMK
rox,
could that have been Copper Canyon Daisy(tagetes lemmonii)?
I believe your sending me some penstemon smallii seeds so I'll send you some mex. marigold.MM is perennial for me,gets about 2 ft.tall but not what I'd call a bush.

Peggy

Hey Rox_Male
I'm not sure if this will help or not but check out Seeds of Change.com
In the catalog I just received there are a few unusual marigold varieties that are
on the taller side. If you can't find one like you had (beautiful by the way) you may
find a new favorite. Good luck:)
