Gaminess in venison

Linden, VA(Zone 6a)

I received about 10 lbs. of venison cuts from a friend. I made the first dish from it last night and was very disappointed to discover it's gaminess. DH liked it; but I just had to find something else to eat. He was soooo looking forward to the dishes I'd planned to make with it that I don't want to disappoint him. But I don't want to spend a lot of time and money making delicious dinners for one!

Can anyone personally recommend a way to treat it to get rid of the gaminess? I've seen some info on-line about processing methods, but it's too late for that!
