I went to the dollar store the other day and found some mugs..They are about 4 inches accross and shallow..I bought one to plant my fisherman's paradise in! I thought it would make a cool container for my plant!
I will post a picture once it is planted to show ya all :)
an idea I wanted to share
Pretty Lorry ! What are you using for drainage ? I do this a lot but what I do is wick my plants in plastic pots then I put them into the mugs !
Let's us know some more and how it works ? Thanks, Allison
I have not decided yet (laugh)
I have done the wick thing and that works well OR I may have hubby put a hole in the bottom...Once I figure it out..I will post a photo of it :)
Cool! Depending on the depth, sometimes it works to put a little gravel in a container like that, then insert a wicked plastic pot... a layer of gravel at the bottom gives excess water a place to go rather than having the pot sit in any water. I have some white ceramic pots (no hole) from Ikea that hold about an inch of gravel and then a 4 inch plastic pot perfectly!
Oh, I wanted to add that I also like to use ceramic paints on some of my dollar store finds...
"Porcelaine" brand paint comes in both pots of paint and paint pens. It "fires" in your home oven at (I think) 325, so almost anything can hold up to that heat without cracking (I've done ceramic, china, glass, etc). After firing, it's like kiln-fired colors -- stands up to use, dishwasher, etc.
I figured it out!
I have some wide lipped pots with holes in them. Which will go in the mug.
I am going to put some stones int he bottom like critter suggested :)
That will be great ! Have fun ! I love dispkaying my av's in cute containers !
