I've read about this and now it has actually happened to me. The plant on the left first appeared in September. The leaf was still healthy and had roots so I planted it again and the plant in the middle appeared the first part of November. The same thing happened so I replanted to same leaf again. On the right you see the same mother leaf with two babies that appeared about the 15th of December. The plant is Ma's Debutante, a large standard. I plant to keep using this leaf as long as I can.
3 generations from the same leaf
There were no signs of additional babies when I took the baby plants from the mother leaf.
Beautifl babies ! Nice growing.
Isn't Nature wonderful nannanavarro.
Joan
Gosh Joan your so right amazing Nature ! I love it ! Thanks :))
I guess the quick leafing the second and third time is because the leaf has already rooted.
As the days get longer (yippee) it will get easier and easier to root cuttings..
Such satisfaction I get from this method of propagating. Almost like giving birth to a new life.

Yes Joan that's how I feel a new life. And Life to me is so Precious I cherish it so. Each new baby I grow is a new life to share and put a smile on someones face :)) Allison
The mother plant looks just like the hyperlink. She is not yet in bloom but the buds are pushing above the leaves. I'll post her picture in another week or so.
Ma's has beautiful plants ! Rob Robinson's wife :)) Yours are growing beautiful Nanna. Did you have the Mom plant too or grew them all by one leaf ?
I have the mother plant. I received a plantlet from The Violet Barn in August. I planted it into a 4 in pot and it has been growing and blooming like crazy. The leaf I planted broke off when I moved the plant from the dining room back to the lighted plant stand.
WOW Wonderful ! So you have Mom and almost three good size babies ! Awesome. It's a gorgeous plant !
Cool! I'd say your thumb was green all the way to your shoulder!
That is one fertile momma-leaf. I've done it a time or two, but I enjoy seeing such a well-done picture of the succcessive progeny.
