Here are a few blooms in the greenhouse today. This one is supposed to be Ammaron's Curly White, but it may be Sariah's Curly Pink, which is a sister seedling of ACW. It has a lot of pink in it which leads me to believe that it could be SCP.

A few greenhouse blooms
I really like your SCP. It seems to me that the CA weather is still perfect for your plumerias. Thanks for sharing.
Hurricane............hmmmmmm after last year that is a plumie I have to add to my collection.....laugh in the face of danger.......if you ever get seedpods please let me know!
Thanks, Kukiat. All the ones outside have stopped blooming with the exception of Key West Pink, but the ones in the greenhouse get a lot of heat so they are still continuing to bloom. Phet Rada is in there and still developing an inflo. The two grafted plants were actually supposed to be ACW's, but I really think they are SCP's. I'll send you a cutting of a branch of it in the spring:-) I do like it, but I think it has too much pink to be ACW. I think the real ACW has no pink at all.
Hi Lisa, all my cuttings and trees are probably too young to produce seedpods yet. I think the older ones tend to get them more, or perhaps certain cultivars set them more easily than others, or perhaps the lack of thrips (the pollinators) in my yard is responsible for my lack of seeds. I'm glad though because thrips tend to spread viruses so I don't mind not having them in my yard. I think that, if I saw them, I would use an insecticide on them! Here's a link with some pictures of the cultivar 'Hurricane': http://davesgarden.com/pf/showimage/73972/
Clare that is simply gorgeous, blooms look huge, even with the curls.
your pictures are georgious Clare, Mine that had the blooms on it, still have most bu t have not done anything, like their dormant now or something, a couple little tiny buds have fallen off, but for the most part most are still there, maybe it will bloom this spring for me. Keeping my fingers crossed.
kathy_ann
Thanks, Nery and Kathy_Ann. I hope you get flowers in the spring, Kathy!
This is a two-year-old seedling which bloomed for the first time today. I don't know the parentage, and I forgot to smell it to see about the fragrance! I will check on the fragrance tomorrow, but it is probably fairly light because this is the first bloom and because of the season, greenhouse conditions, etc. It looks like it has promise, and at least, it isn't white!
Hey guys! For anyone who wants to see more pictures of plants in my garden, go to this link: http://photobucket.com/albums/v489/jccorre/ and type in the word "plumie" with no quotation marks. Be sure to click on the link in the middle of the page which says "2005 Plumeria Blossoms" to access the second album.
Lord have Mercy, those are outstanding. comments:
#13 just love that Christmas cactus
#31 The rose/brug pic, congrats on winning with that one? I most certainly voted for it
#38 Why won't my tea tree look like this one? mine is pitiful
#83 oh, I'm really drooling now!
#93 Are those plumies in their permanent location, trunks are so thick. Cannot possibly be fun to move those around
and of course, I always love the pics of "Clare's brigade" lol
Hi Nery! Thanks so much for your comments! I really enjoyed them. Did I win something? I completely forgot about the photo contest and will have to go check now. No. 83 is Kauka Wilder. No. 93 are my seedlings which are all in five-gallon containers and can be moved. They aren't too heavy to move. It's the ones in 15-gallon containers which are fairly heavy, and I have a few which will be repotted into 25-gallon containers this summer. Be sure to check out the album which says "2005 Plumeria Blooms" too. It's hard to see, and the link is in the middle of the page and is in blue. Those are all labeled so you can see what they are. I changed the background to yellow so the "2005 Plumeria Blooms" link is easier to spot in case anyone missed it.
I saw the plumie blooms, gorgeous!!!!
Thanks, Nery! Hey, congrats on your win too! LOL! That picture is great:-)
Great photos, Clare! Lucky you that you can have blooms year round.
A nice DGer sent me a couple of cuttings in late November and one of them (Ruffles) has sent up a large inflo. Soooooo, out came the heat mat and I put that one under lights. Keeping my fingers crossed that I'll have blooms soon.
Theyre all quite nice Clare!
I have a basement full of inflos right now.
Im hoping they all hold off till spring.
They wont bloom true down there.
70 degrees, fans, dehumidifiers food and water a plenty
But the lighting conditions dont provide enough spectrum for fullness of color in the blooms.
The sodium lights that would do it are a lil outta my tightwad budget... pooo....
Oh well, as long as they stay healthy till spring.
MIchael..sounds like you have a winter paradise going there in Pa...am sure lots there are wishing for your success..
Thanks, Nat! I must confess that my plumeria blooms outside are finished with the exception of Key West Pink, which is still blooming, but the blooms are small and sporatic. Any plumeria blooms that I have now are inside the nice toasty warm portable greenhouse. But I do have other stuff blooming outside as shown in the pictures. I wonder if that nice DGer that sent you 'Ruffles' is the same nice DGer that sent me 'Ruffles'! LOL! My 'Ruffles' just finished, and I love her! My fingers are crossed for you to get blooms soon!
Thanks, Michael. That is great that you have many inflo's! That is quite of labor of love that you have going there. I imagine that it is hard work to keep them all happy in the basement, but you do it for sure! You are an inspiration to all:-) I bet you that your inflo's will wait until spring to bloom for you. It seems like it takes forever for inflo's to develop in summer, doesn't it? Well, maybe it will seem like forever, but it will actually be spring when they finally open. I know what you mean about the cost of maintaining these trees. My budget is pitiful too. Just the electricity for one little light in the portable greenhouse and a little heat from the oil-radiant heater and to run the fan for 24 hours a day adds up to a whole lot of money when the electricity is factored in.
Clare
SCP or ACW who cares they both are beautiful. At least you still have blooms.
Roger
Hi Roger! So true! Thanks:-)
They are sooooo beautiful!! I hope that mine look as pretty when they grow up!
I have a huge inflo on the Hilo Beauty you sent me Roger.
Buuut in hte basement whooo knows whatll happen
Perhaps Ill get lucky! ;)
I hope it blooms for you, Michael, in the spring! Can't wait to see pictures!
Hi Clare, I went to the plumie site but did not understand which were yours and which belong to others. I went through all 266 blooms. I could not find 2005 Plumeria Blossoms. I found one backyard but I do not think it was yours. The pictures were beautiful but you grow such beautiful flowers I would love to see your yard. Joan
Hi Joan, all pictures belong to me and are of my plants in my garden, and the pictures were taken by me. There are 118 pictures in the first album, and 44 pictures in the second album. The 2005 Plumeria Blooms link is in blue and under the heading of photo albums and above the heading photos. I'm wondering if you saw my site or saw other public plumeria photos. My photos are not public but are "read-only," and you need the password of "plumie" to access it. Try again and see what happens.
Beautiful blooms Clare.......
Thanks, Tx!
I was waiting for spring,
They seem to have minds of their own.
Sooo... Im going to 'force' them as best im able.
Extra light and more food / water than I had planned.. Y NOT!! 8D
Let us know, Michael, how it goes!
