This little guy showed up on our deck.
He was wet and shivering without a collar (you could see where he had recently had a collar).
We live 1/4 mile off the road and a least a 1/8 of a mile from our nearest neighbors. When I opened the gate to the yard, he came right in. He let my husband pick him up and has made himself right at home. He's comfortable with the cats and dogs, wasn't even hungry when he came in.
I'm thinking that he belongs to someone who is visiting one of the neighbors for Christmas, that he got out and didn't know where home was. Or maybe he's someones Christmas present and got lost. I hate to think that somebody dumped their dog on Christmas Eve....they should have better things to do. Besides, he looks too healthy and well cared for to be dumped.
I know he's a terrier....Jack Russell or Fox? I'm not a terrier expert.....can anybody help with that?
And what is the next step? He will stay here tonight and tomorrow we'll go to the neighbors and ask if they've lost a dog.
Hopefully, that will work. If it doesn't....what's the next step? Posters? signs? Newspaper Ads?
Help from someone more experienced would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Becky
