Speaking of Pumpkins. . . . Looking For A "White Warty" One

Culpeper, VA(Zone 7a)

A friend of mine has a friend who is desperately looking for seeds for a "white warty pumpkin" that made an appearance on a recent Martha Stewart TV show.

Both he & I have done web & catalog searches up the wazoo, but can't seem to find anything that fits "white warty pumpkin".

Any ideas?

Don't remember a white squash/pumpkin with warts. Most are smooth skin. Did you use http://www.mobot.org/gardeninghelp/plantfinder/Squash.asp. Best collection of pictures that I have found.

Yes - visited that site.

I, too, couldn't recall ever seeing a "white warty pumpkin" anywhere - & I love heirlooms. Guess the recourse will be "trying" to contact the Martha Stewart people - but why do I think that won't be fruitful - lol!!!

Breezy, do you remeber the shape? There is a Hubbard that is so light blue that it sometimes appears white in photographs. Blue Kuri

From what I was told by my friend, the shape was that of a standard pumpkin.

Breezy, found you a pink warted punkin. "GALEUX d'EYSINES " http://www.felcopruners.net/catalog.0.html3.0.html

Is is a Provencale? They are whitish blue. I recall a white pumpkin on a seed website (sorry I can't remember the name), but I thought the pumpkin was smooth.

Smooth white pumpkins are in many seed catalogs. The warty ones, aren't generally called pumpkins in the US but winter squash. If you go to the link provided by Farmer Dill you will see one that is almost white at the top of the page. I don't know if I would call its skin warty but it sure is bumpy! I have a feeling this person will have to contact Martha Stewart's show people. They might answer.
