This forum is full of cat lovers. Well I did not like cats. I never hurt one but they were not really safe around me and they knew it and stayed out of my way. All except my daughters big tom. At a lean 19lbs he is the biggest house cat I have ever seen and about 1/2 the size of a bobcat. He does not shy from any man are beast. He put my daughters 98lb Rodesian Ridgeback in place. So in his case we just did not socialize. We had a strained peace. Him on one side of the room and me on the other.
Well anyway about 2 months ago a neighbors daughter brought home a little abandon cat from Kansas City. Gilly is 2 yrs old and was different. She loves everyone. Loves to hang with our dog Lady as well. People next door could not keep her so I found her a home with a couple that had just lost their cat. After I took her over there I came home and missed her. About a week later they called and said they were selling out down here and could not keep her. I was so happy to have her back. Since then she has been a member of the family. She follows me all over the yard and loves to go down on my boat dock when I go down to catch a few crappie. Since she has been going down there the mallards have stopped roosting on the dock and making a barn yard out of the walkway. I think her scent keeps them away. They do not know it but she is as scared of them as they are her. She mimics the dog. Lady goes for 2 short walks everyday because it gives her a chance to get out and sniff the woods. Etc. She is confined in the yard otherwise behind a radio fence the restof the time. Anyway gilly has to go to if the dog goes. I never seen a cat do that. Also Lady barks at the door to come in. About the 3rd day Gilly started making odd sharp meows at the door when she wanted in. My wife is convinced she is still convinced she is trying to bark.Gilly is fully clawed but is so careful with them you might not think she had any. So here I am a dog man going goo goo over a cat.
Lets try again I used to dislike cats
